My son's 2012 Fit has a worn ball joint and I thought I would save money and replace the lower control arm myself. I cannot get it back together. It is off by 3/4 of an inch or so
I did some searching and maybe the cv shaft pulled out? Here is a picture, does it look like it could be separated inside the boot?
I can rotate the tire on the other side and it rotates the wheel i have removed

 

Sometimes the axle pulls partially out of the transaxle and has to be realigned to slide back in.
