My wife's BOM Fit is...dead!

Hey gang

The wife was going to visit a friend earlier this evening and when I went to back her car out of our garage (it was a super tight park job) and I couldn't even get the remote key fob to open the door...thinking it might have been just my key fob, I grabbed hers and same thing (nothing!).

So, no power whatsoever...key fobs won't even work...after getting into the car manually (with the key) I checked to see if I had perhaps left the light on or something inside and maybe that drained the battery, but nope...didn't do that.

I can't even get the car out of park to back it down the driveway and try to give it a jump with my truck.

It has just over 5k miles on it right now...and we have owned it about 10 months and never had any issues whatsoever.

I'm awful at anything that has to do with vehicle repair/maintenance...

The other kicker is that I am about 88 miles to the nearest Honda dealer! So, I'm not sure how warranty and towing is all going to work out.

Any advice or suggestions for me?

Many thanks if you do!

Mike

the way to get it out of park is by the shifter there is a little plug you can remove looks like a horizontal version of (). pop that out, stick the key and it will free the shifter and allow you to put it in neutral to push it out of the garage.

Other than that pull the battery and take it in to get tested. My battery also went early on my fit, luckily theres a warranty on the battery

Thank you Chris!!

Was able to get it jump started and I let it charge up for about 25 minutes - we'll see if I have to do the same thing tomorrow morning

Again, many thanks!

Here in Canada we get 3 year roadside assistance with our new cars. Can't you just call honda and get them to send a guy out there to fix it / tow it?

Your battery probably just went completely dead.

Anyway, on a good side, at least your ECU is probably completely reset and your car probably gets a breath of new life into it.

Try it!
