oh personally i have no idea how to work on cars. im not going to lie. but...i learned how to do the suspension last week and its SUPER simple. i mean if i can do it....you can to. i hate doing work becuase i dont trust myself, becuasei usually get bad luck in things...but this is really easy.
not really sure how to interpret your question but if your going coilovers...slam the ride. no wheel gap, your fit will look sick stock or with wheels.
next, if you drive around a lot and dont like the harsh ride...tein s-techs or tanabe df210 are just right i guess. they leave about a half a finger wheel gap to 1 finger all around.
hondafittuner.com has diy step. its really a couple of bolts and wala you have your set up out. the rears are just one bolt...so the rears are the easiest. i had some trouble with the fronts becuase part of the axle popped off( do not let the rotors slam down once you get the shock off. put a jack under the rotor to support it up, that way your axle joint doesnt pop off)
thats all the warnings i have.

Coilovers can make a car really low but that means slowing down a lot on bumpy roads, dips, railroad tracks, etc....unless you put the ride height higher, but it will only go so high. Performance is best on coilovers, but I don't race. Daily driving is for me and a set of springs should get you a small drop with better performance than stock. Plus you don't have to slow down all the time when you see a big bump in the road. I rather not worry about bottoming out or scraping my front lip when having a car too low. As for installation, piece of cake for the Honda Fit, actually its easier than a Civic b/c the way the rear was made. If I needed to change set-ups then I could do so within 45 mins or so.
So your decision is, bumpy ride with good turning that looks cool? Or something with a smoother ride, less of a drop with slighty better performance than stock. Whatever suits your life...and your budget knowing a set of good coilovers is quite spendy vs just getting springs.
