Radiator fan starts kicking in whenever stopped

Hi fit freaks,
I am a happy owner of a brand new honda fit sport, and i am totally happy with the car. (Switched from Escort Station Wagon'93 :-) ).

However, recently i noticed that the fan radiator starts kicking in whenever (a) the fan (in the salon) is on, and (b) the car stopped, even though the temperatures outside are more than mild ~40F. Is this normal/typical? My old car would only be doing this during the summer and 90+ temperatures...

thanks for any advice.

Hi Mark, we've discussed this topic before, but this is basically what is going on:

https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...witch-off.html

When in either defrost mode, the A/C compressor will kick in and the fan subsequently will come on. It'll go away if you switch to one of the other three settings (front, down, front/down). Hope this answers your question

Welcome and Congrats on the Fit!

As far as your particular situation goes I was thinking more along the lines of what illusive said... so is it that you happen to have the fan/air on at the same time?

I wouldnt worry about the radiator fans kicking on too much. Only time Id worry is if you dont hear them kick on.

Congrats on the new car.
