Jacking....?

I've searched, but didn't get a definite answer to be quite honest. But long story short, after using the "recommended" Honda front jacking point according to the manual, the jacking arm, or lever came some how came into direct contact with the radiator cradle and has now misaligned my front end significantly due to this. Are there any other areas on the vehicle where I am I able to jack the entire vehicle from the front end, in order to use jack stands for support?

I guess moral of the story is make certain the floor jack you're using has ample clearance.... as it's now unfortunately going to make a $50 oil change into a $250 one.

Stupid Honda Fit.... I have honestly never run into so many problems with a vehicle before, let alone a Honda. I think it might be time to sell. lol

I've never looked at the manual for jackpoint's(I have never seen someone jack up the front of a car)but the jack point's on the side's work fine for every Honda I've used.I''ve changed my Fit's oil at least 5x's by jacking up and securing the jack stand's from the side(and I have alway's had more than enough room to move freely underneath). You don't need to jack up the front of the car for any reason, the side's work fine.Good Luck.

dang that sucks man. be careful next time i guess.

i got tired of jacking up my cars for oil changes so i just bought a pair of ramps and it's a lot easier now. even at stock ride height though, i always have to put the ramps on a slope so that the front lip will clear it. i still think it's less of a pain than jacking the car up though.

It's actually quite unfortunate that this happened, as nothing remotely this ridiculous has ever happened to me while working on my 1999 Honda Civic Hatchback.

But you bring up a very good point in terms of using automotive ramps.... I should definitely start putting mine to use. lol Even if it does possibly require me to remove the front bumper, at least this same issue shouldn't arise again once it hopefully gets fixed.

sorry to hear what happened.

could you maybe try a small piece of wood were the point is to distribute the load and to keep it from slipping? I have had great luck with that in the past...but idunno if it would work for you, and I have not had the opportunity to try it on my Fit (I have not had it long enough to do anything really to it.....is sooooo virgin )
here is a pic for those who are curious as to where the front/rear jack pt is.....

either from the sides or the rear tow hook for me.

i want to invest in some ramps. i really think those would help during those quick oil changes.

i cant fit a hydraulic jack under my car. so i have use the manual jack first to put it up a bit then use the hydraulic jack.(maybe i just need to fork out the extra bucks for the race jack) instead of using a 3 ton
