wheel cleaner causing brake disc to rust?

Can someone help with my problem please

I washed my fit today and washed the wheels using wheel cleaner, then rinsing off the excess. I notice the brake disc started to show rust (oxidation occurring). Is this normal? And will it affect my brake pads?

This has happened before, and it usually goes away after I drive.

Thanks for any suggestions to my problem!

I havent seen a stock brake rotor from honda yet that didnt rust after getting wet. It doesnt have anything to do with wheel cleaner or soap its just the water.

lol if you think yours is bad, go drive up to a dealership after some rain and check out the rotors. It's a rust fest!

you got that right, and since the Mugen Si has just been sitting (until just recently) forever on the lot it even had rust pooling in the wheels...

if you just use your brakes for a stop, the rust is gone. so nothing to worry about, plus it's normal like everyone said.

So far at the dealerships i have worked at all rotors have rusted after cleaning or water on them

ferrari, honda, acura, volvo & mercedes

No worries unless your car sits for 6months at a time

LOL. We haven't driven our CR-V in 10 days and it has rained. The wife came in the house panicked this a.m. She thought someone had vandalized the car by dumping orange paint on the wheels.

Much to her amazement, I went out and "cleaned" them in about 30 seconds....

Does make a nice racket as the brake pads unbind in that first foot of movement.
