No, I had told them specifically I wanted the Memory 1!! The memory 2 was 159.72 or something like that.

No idea on why they quoted you so much. Maybe try a different dealer?? Or at least try a different parts person!

this may sound like a dumb question, but is there a way to program the truck for it to open?

just to catch up... in order to delete the dummy trunk button, you need the rdx face plate. now, to be extra sure, i'm guessing you woud also need to buy an rdx key fob as well?

i'm more concerned with deleting a useless trunk button than switching a pointless emblem.

Thanks for this awesome guide Mugen guy. I got an issue, the top piece is wedged a bit towards the opening of the switchblade. Is it all like this or is mine broken? Also do I have to go to honda/acura dealer to get the key cut?

None of the top of the switchblade should be touching any other part of the key fob. If it does, you'll probably have to take it apart and see why it is crooked. Could be when you cut open the key to replace the immobilizer resulted in something sticking up a bit?

If it can still open and close properly, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Good looking Mugen_Dom i just did it and it works nice now just have to get the key cut.
I think the TL keys may just be more in the US I got mine for 106.00 from Gunn Acura and that was the lowest from a dealer in San Antonio.

I am looking to do this with my key FOB. I have an 08 Sport. I looked up the key FOB but my FCC ID does not match the TL FOB. Is there a difference in the 07 and 08 Fit key FOBs? If so is there a know FOB that will work?

Here is what is on the back of my FOB:
0UCG8D-380H-A

this is what is on the back of the TL I found:
OUOG8D-439H-A

OUOG8D-439H-A ACURA TL TSX REMOTE KEY

Thanks

Hoping Mugen Dom can chime in on this one.

I PM'd Dom and all is good. The FCC ID on my Fit Fob matches his, and The TL FCC ID matches the one he has. I will be doing this as soon as all parts arrive. :-)

Exclamation Cheap Stuff!!!!

Okay, I am prolly one of the tightest cheapa$$es that you will find on this site, or just about anywhere, but I like my toys, so when I saw this deal I liked the idea, but not the cost. Well, it is slow at work today so I had time to do some research and see how cheaply I could make this happen, and achieved some pretty good results. First the TL 'switchblade'- I Googled 'Acura TL fob' and ended up at Amazon.com with a price of $74, but it also said 'New from $30', so I clicked on that and there is a seller by the name of 'hastrok' that sells them for $30, and looks to have a good rep. Shipping of $4.49 and its on its way to me. I hope it's a good key. Let you know when I get it.
Now for the best part (I think!!) The only part we need from the RDX fob is the cover, Right? FOUND 'EM!!! Again with the Google, came across oemacuraparts.com, of Acura of Peoria (AZ), and called them. Got ahold of Lance the parts man, and he hooked me (us!) up with the part number of the COVER, MODULE for the RDX. It's 35118STKA01, and it costs a whopping $8.29!!!!!! Unfortunately, the shipping is $8.50, and the handling is $5.00 so total charge, to me, was $21.79. Might be less if you are closer to them. I am in Toledo, Ohio.
So there you go, total parts cost, with shipping, of $66.28!! We have a 'follow the leader' tracing machine here at work that I may be able to talk the machinist into cutting my key with, if it will work for it. Won't bother him with it 'till I have both pieces in hand. HOPEFULLY, I willget all good pieces and will carry on with updates as applicable! later

vinniemic: I will be sitting her anxiously awaiting to hear how that $30 key is for you. I to LOVE the idea of this but alas can't bite the bullet and pay $150+ for just the key from my local dealer (yes this was for memory 1). The RDX cover was only $14.71 with taxes from the same dealer though...

Doesn't the TL key come with an immobilizer chip already? Would it be possible to program that to work instead of taking the chip out of one of your current keys?

Well, I got the $30 key from the guy on Amazon.com, and it's perfect! An Acura TL, OEM key. Now if I can just get it apart......
I should have openned my brain a little and did some thinking, and could have saved myself some money by going to an Acura dealer locally and bought it there! duh Just got so excited that I found it. and then I realized we have it in the first post of this thread. (part number, that is) Oh well, maybe I'll start paynig attention to things now.
