Anybody done a tyre rotation?
Anybody done a tyre rotation?
Anybody done a tire rotation yet and have a decent way to do it? Most reasonable way I can think is put all four corners up on jackstands and pull em, but I was hoping someone had thought of a more efficient way to do it. I can't really think of one though...Thanks.
I just got done doing my first tire rotation at the same time when I installed my Megan b-pipe.
The maintenance minder had not gone off yet to remind me to do it, but I had just turned 4500 miles and I already had jacks under all four corners.
I think that is really the easiest way. Or, since you're changing them from front to back on the same side, you could just jack the car up at both front and back jack points on the driver's side and then the passenger side.
It's also nice to have an impact driver to remove the lug nuts with. I use a torque wrench to reinstall them, but it sure speeds things up to be able to zip them off like the Nascar guys do

Also keep in mind that if you have an 08 sport you have TPMS sensors that are in each tire connected at the valve stem. These sensors tell you if you have a tire low on air. At the dealer they can flash to see what tire needs air, but if you rotate without changing all the sensors to their proper location it will read incorrectly at the dealer. -This is NOT a big deal!!!!- Do not let this concern you much. The CEL that comes on in the car will still inform you of low tire pressure, and you will be able to determine it by process of elimination (like the good ole' days). If you have aftermarket rims and did not have the shop transfer the TPMS sensors into the new wheels you already have the light on and this paragraph is of little or no use to you.
good luck, and be safe.
proper rotation for non-direction tires is a cross pattern FYI. -think you already knew that, but just making sure.
Oops, then my advice about jacking up one side and then the other is, ummmmmm, jacked.
Please disregard.

One could do a cross pattern rotation with one jack and one jack stand or with two jacks. Jack up one wheel, remove, lower slightly so vehicle is level and put on jack stand. Jack up opposite corner, swap wheels. Put swapped wheel on first position.
This would minimize equipment but does leave the vehicle on a jack during some of the tire removal/install. To avoid stability issues, I loosen and final tighten all nuts while the vehicle is still on the ground. Some tightening must still be done on the jack or stand to ensure the wheel seats properly.
I've done same side rotations this way but not cross rotations so this is just a thought. When it comes time to rotate tires on the Fit and my new minivan, I'll probably do it this way.
