I LOVE the fit, but I HATE it right now...

So, I posted back in may about a MIL/CEL.

Cylinder 1 Misfire was the code.

So we are driving home from walmart....surprise!!!...the light comes on.

I went back to my house, searched online and it seems like I am the only one with a Fit having this problem. I did the DIY code check....71 - same code. It's running the same as before.

I have checked the connectors, coil packs, spark plugs - I've even swapped the coil packs and spark plugs around.

Last time, it just stopped acting up and ran fine. It's rather annoying...

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Other than this relatively minor problem - I love the fit. Just got 35% tint all around last week I'm about to trade in the prelude for another!

So why don't you take it to the dealership. Or is it out of warranty?

Long story....

we bought it from a place that rebuilds hondas after they are "recovered"

It has almost 11,000 mi on it.

They gave us a warranty for 1 year. It was bought in April

the place we bought it from is ~50 mi away. I was just trying to check everything i could before I go there and its some stupid connection that's loose.

I think it would be somewhat amusing (but not good at all) to roll up in there with a rod clanging around a hole in the block. The guy did say "just drive it"

Shot in the dark, but it has happened before (on other cars):

You may have a dribbling injector. Swap #1 with another cylinder. If the misfire code follows the injector, you found it.

++++++++++++++++++++

All cars benefit from the occasional "Italian Tuneup". Run it through the gears to redline once in a while, or maintain 4000+ RPM for a minute...the extra on-time for the injectors helps keep them clean. (And, it's FUN!)

okay. I thought I updated this before, but I did find a solution.

The place we bought it from didn't think anything was wrong. Finally, it messed up again and I had to drive it at least 50 mi on no more than 3 cylinders. They did what I suggested at first - replaced the computer. It's fixed and runs fine. The engine is just a little noisy....I don't know if it is an effect from this problem, or if something else affected it.

your probubly getting more noise because you have another cylinder working. How long was the cylinder not working, because if it was completely dead for more then a month of DD then i would find a replacement piston, you may even have to get a new set of pistons if they wore that un evenly. or just leave it and you wont get the full life out of the car, but by then it will be someone elses problem.

it's louder than it was new with all 4 cylinders working. chances are it will last for a long time and it's nothing too serious. if something goes wrong, I'll fix it. It's my fiancee's car.

I just got a 97 prelude sh with 205,000 mi and it's quiet....I don't thing the h22 is superior to the L15 - its a different class of motor.
