Did anyone ever get the Fit sputtering problem solved? I have the same thing and took it to the Honda dealer and they said there was not a problem, but it's been doing this for about a year. 72,000 on a 07 Fit. Any help would be appreciated.

Is your problem intermittent? Sounds like one or more coilpacks are going out. You probably need to replace the defective one(s). To determine which one is defective, you can try systematically decreasing the gap on each cylinder. I"d start by decreasing the gap on plug #1 to .032", then test the car for stuttering. If you detect no change, move on to cylinder #2 and repeat the process. If/when the problem disapears, then I'd suspect the coilpack on that cylinder to be the one that is going bad. After replacing the defective coilpack, you can re-gap all the plugs back to Honda specs. FYI, I have continued running my plugs at .032", and my Fit has been running great!
Note that this technique will only work if your defective coilpack is weak. If it is already dead, you'll have to systematically move the coilpacks around instead.

Thanks for the help, I'm going to work on it today. I really appreciatie it, the guys at the Honda shop acted like they didn't have a clue. Thanks again.

My fit has been doing this issue today. She is a 2007 Fit. 171,000km on the motor. Noticed this issue this evening on my way home. Was stuck in traffic, it was snowing, my heat was going. When I was idling it would go up to 1.3-1.5 and then drop down to normal ideal. At one point I thought I was rear ended cause I felt the car shake from the back. My spark plugs were done in May. My coolant was done in September. I don't want to take to Honda and be told that it's fine and have to pay them for nothing.

On a side note, when I start my car in the cold it idles at 1.5. After driving a bit it will then idle back at 1rpm.

If it is my coils causing the sputter how would I know which coil. I have no engine light and do not want to buy 4 coil packs.

Honda fuel pumps are very reliable and rarely breakdown before 250.000 Km.
In our FIT/Jazz the fuel filter is located next to the pump and inside the fuel tank positioned below the front seats. The fuel filter is for life. I don't appreciate this solution because I believe that fuels filters should be replaced every 50.000 Km. I have always found them dirty. I believe it is a trend to built up fuel pumps and filters like this, Toyota does exactly the same thing.
Both were great manufacturers and IMHO are since a decade getting worse.

My sputtering issue isn't that bad. The winter has gotten brutal really quickly. What I notice on occasion when stopped at a light is the needle will go just above 1rpm then back down to 1rpm. It does this when I haven't been driving for more than 20-30 minutes. When the car has been driven more than 45 minutes it does not do that. The increase rev as minor as it is, seems to only occur with my heat going on 4. I think the car is just compensating for the fans and to keep itself warm. Never do my revs sputter or dip below 1rpm. Guess it's not that big of an issue. Not going to worry about it. If anything it's an idle issue.

Our 2008 FIT Sport with 68K miles was missing at idle. No codes so no help from dealer.
MPG average was about 24 too, which seemed a bit low.
So 2 fresh fill-ups each with a bottle of Gumout Fuel System Cleaner.
Problem seems to be solved, motor at idle is quiet, smooth as glass and average MPG now 36.
Only problem now is we have to sell her because Trilogy only allows 3 cars and we have 4.
