ETCS Learn Procedure

Can we do the ETCS Learn Procedure without having a Honda Scanner? The reason for this is that i have forgotten the dome light on and that completely drained the battery and now i have a persistent MIL on and i think it's because of that... and if not, how much does it cost to reset it?

cant you just recharge the battery and then unplug your battery for 15 seconds to reset the ecu and your light will go away?

Well, actually, i removed the battery from the car for a night and charged it and now i have that check engine light... the car will idle at 1000 - 1100Rpm and then got to something like 1500 - 1600rpm and that nasty MIL light will light up like a B*t*h... when it's on drive, it will never occur BTW, only when it's hot and on park or neutral...

If you don't have access to a scanner try an auto parts store.
Often the will let you scan it or scan it for you in the parking lot.
I've done this a few times with different cars and trucks over the years.

wish i had alldata at my fingertips, but a google search will do

p2101
Powertrain: Throttle Actuator Control Motor Circuit Range/Performance

Sounds like a Throttle control issue (duh)

As for a relearn procedure... i doubt advance or napa or whoever can do it. Usually adaptations are MANUFACTURER SPECIFIC. A universal scan tool wouldn't be able to perform an adaptation.

All an auto parts store can do is tell you the code and reset it.
I've had my battery drained a couple of times without trouble.
I've also disconnected a few times without any trouble.
Some newer vehicles have it in the manual that you have to connect the battery, apply the ebrake, run it in neutral for 2 min then back to park and off to relearn the idle.
I would be asking the dealer. Warranty?

I have a scan tool, P2101 is my code... The car will run well at 1000rpm and then it will get to 1500rpm by itself... floor it when it happens and it won't go past 2800rpm... restart the car and it will get to fuel cut... It only happens when in park and neutral and when the car is hot... when it's in gear, it doesn't happens...

any Honda gearheads??

Yeah, i allready tried to do that! I unplugged the battery for about an hour and then i did the whole procedure but the check engine had lit and the rpm climbed to 1500, rendering the whole procedure useless...

hmmm...... maybe try disconnecting the top o2 wire that is connected to the header because this makes the ecu run with a neutral a/f ratio and see if idle stabalizes. then plug it back in and unplug the batt and wait for awhile then start her up and see if that works.
