Question baterry light goes on and off after new altenator and battery

well I sure hope someone can suggest a cause for my problem-a few months ago I was told my alternator was pooched-so I had a new one installed and at the same time a new belt- its run well until a few days ago when the baterry light came on-I got it back home by turning all the accessories of i.e-fan etc. when I got home turned it off and the battery was dead-thru it on the charger for a few hours and it was fine-NO battery light warning--drove all day today lots of stops and starts, then on my way home the battery light came on again-took it to a place that just deals in batteries the fellow checked it said it was done-so I bought a new one, ran it for an hour or so battery light tuurned on agin? --turhed the car off battery light comes on -a a min. or two light comes back on?? I retsrted it a half dozen times with the same result-would anyone hazard to guess what could be the cause or causes? thnx a lot guys!

Check the alternator fuse (80 amps) near positive battery terminal
I afraid the replacement alternator is toast (unless it's reman by Honda)

Hook up voltmeter to the battery terminals; at idle in park /neutral it should read about 14 volt with engine on.
Also try to move "B" wire attached to the alternator via 10 mm nut

Well Dr. J you were correct, the rebuilt alt. was toast!, I ended up with a credit, and a new alt. with a 6 month guarantee labour inclusive. Let me thank you for all your suggestions which I did perform ,but you were right on form the beginning-thnx crunchie

This makes me worry about the quality of rebuilt parts in general. 99% of rebuilt alternators are sandblasted, painted nicely, placed in the cool looking box and resold in the chain stores by hot-dog looking ladies with 2 inch manicure. Oops, forgot to add, they got $3 brushes replaced using 2000 W solder gun, occasionally new $3 Alibaba bearings are installed too with the help of 5 LB sledge!

^^^ Which is why I now have a local alternator shop rebuild my bad alternators (and starters)

Luckily I have other cars to use while they do the job. It only takes 'em a day...in by 4, out the next afternoon.

On my past cars I've done alternators [overhaul] myself; 87 Camry was the easiest!

Overhaul is easy, but I don't have the facilities needed for testing.

That's where the auto electric shop earns its money.

They KNOW the failure modes for differing models...a 'breadth of experience'. EX: some alternators need bearings replaced. AND they know how long brushes last.
(They get the wholesale rate for parts and that makes up for the test cost.)

For modular type ND generator about a third of the problems contributed to bad voltage regulator
