How to fix stripped screwhole for cargo cover button?

Yesterday I was installing the button/screws for my 2009 cargo cover's front flap, and I muscled it a little too hard and stripped the predrilled hole in the back of the seat. Has anyone ever done this also or know how to fix it? Thanks!

Hmm...I'm not sure but I'm thinking...you know those like "inserts" you put into the wall before you screw something really heavy duty in?
Maybe one of those would work...I'm gonna see if I can find pics...

Apparently they are called "drywall anchors"
They have all different sizes/types...I have a few in my toolbox...it may be enough to fill the hole and still let your screw go in...

Super heavy duty...

Should be able to find them at hardware store or walmart.

put a toothpick in the hole, break it off then screw in the screw

because it is a machine thread, you maw want to split the toothpick down the center

I did this exact same thing and first tried loctite which didn't work and than I used super glue and so far it has held up.

I guess if the screw bit is stripped and you want to remove it off the seat, you could just use a pair of pliers and grab and twist. Short term repair, but still works.

Ken--is there a big gap now? Any chance you could take a picture?

Okay you got that hole wallered out so much the screw will not tighten down, so if the screw is standard self threading type all ya gotta to do is fill the hole with hot glue. Be very careful and put a towl under the spot your fillin in cuz what ever it comes in contact with it stays in contact with!! this stuff is very pliable after it's squwirtted were it's needed. Give it a few minutes to cool down and put the screw back in. Any hobby store or Sears will have a hot glue gun and there great for other projects also.

Gimme's idea is a good one too, and Quick
