Aux port not working; not wired in head unit

Had the stock stereo installed after buying my 07 Fit Sport. Aux port doesn't work. Took it back to figure out why and they said it's not wired to the head unit. Yay. Called the local Honda dealer (cause the stereo shop said thy don't carry it) and the dealer's parts guy told me he can only get the auxillary attachment cable icbw orders Honda's "music link" system as well... For $255. I didn't even ask WTF this "music link" crap was...

Anyone know if I can get this cable alone?

Is yours the car that had an aftermarket deck in it when you bought it? I'm gonna guess that the shop that did that install removed the cable from the dash. Although that would have been a HUGE PITA I suppose it could have been done. Otherwise the cable you need should still be in there, as it was originally.

The stereo shop said it was not. I don't see why they'd lie about it. They took it apart and everything.

Is it possible the original owner was using the OEM aux input with the aftermarket head unit, using a home made cable? That would explain the disappearance of the original cable..

The aftermarket one did not support aux audio. It was CD and FM/AM only. It was a Koss that was very flimsy.

Well, in any event you can make your own cable to replace the lost one. There are several threads on FF about it.

Have you removed the center console to check the connection?

They removed the stereo, said there's a spot for it to plug in (which of course there is) and that it isnot connected, nor is it floating around in there.

I suppose I could check myself, but before I wasn't even able to get the stereo/ac control panel out all the way.

They already found the problem; I don't see any reason to try to re-diagnose it.

Would the music link option give you the correct cable anyway? I wouldn't have thought so from what I've read. Another way to give you an aux port but the right cable no.

Are any of these the right wiring?

Auxiliary input adapters, add I-pod, ipod adapter for your car, mp3 player, dvd player or any audio into your car stereo - PIE - PERIPHERAL - PAC - SOUNDGATE - BLITZSAFE

I plan on going to the stereo shop and asking them tomorrow.

They're pretty expensive tho. For that price plus what I spent on the stereo, I coulda had a nicer head unit. Tho it'd have that tacky tray underneath it. Too bad they don't make head units to take up that whole space. Ha

Contacted the local Honda dealer and had a senior parts guy talk to me. He was able to get the individual part number for the cable I need. A couple hours later he called me back with more info on it. $68 for the cable. >.<

He handled everything but I will most definitely have to get the part number from him.
