ECU problem

I posted this in another area I think this one is probably more correct for the issue.

I think I have an ECU problem. I am new to the honda fit, I have a 2008 Fit Sport. I don't know if this is 2nd generation or 1st? can someone explain that?

Secondly, my Scangauge I, will NOT connect to my Honda. It will connect to my 2003 Ford Taurus, 2002 toyota, but not my 2008 honda?

The honda is still a OBDII, so it MUST be an ECU problem connecting to the Scangauge. This is not the scangauge II, but the original scangauge. I cannot find anything saying that the obdII has changed in the last 5 years.

Before I try to buy a new one, I wanted to know if anyone here has an idea how to get this to connect to my Fit. To review I have two main questions.

1. Do i have a 2nd generation honda fit or a 1st?
2. Do I have an ecu problem when my scangauge will not connect to my ECU? OR is there something else i should do like reset the ecu?

Thanks.

Hi,

If your ScanGauge I is software version 1.X then it will not support the CAN protocol.

You can check this when it is connected to a car press MORE>MORE>MORE>VERSION

Give us a call or send me an email if you have any questions. Also, if you are interested in upgrading to a ScanGauge II I can give you a discount for being a ScanGauge I owner.

Thanks,

Welcome to the forum McQueen,
The first generation of Fit is the GD series from 2001-2007 or 2008 depending if your car was shipped to the USA and maybe Canada then 01-08. The GE series is 08 to pressent everywere except the USA here the GE body style was 2009 to present. I guess we're special in the USA. I kinda like the GD's
You have a GD3, is it the sport package? You can tell if it has a spoiler on the hatch it's a sport package and come with other goodies like paddle shifters, louder stereo with extra speakers, ect.

Oh yah, mine is a 2008 Fit Sport with paddle shifters! IT is fun, I was just curious what model my car is. I guess it is a first generation then? What is the main difference between the two generations?

Is the engine the same? This is all im concerned with.

Thanks Linear logic, I took you up on you offer and purchased a scan gauge II!

Hey McQueen,
Dif is 7hp to me, but the styling is more agressive and it's bigger. More cup holders 10 to be exact, but it still does not come with an armrest?? The GE8's have another cool aspect to them and that is Mugen has come on board as a dealer option. As ya get into the Fit and it's market nitch you find out what a cool little ride we have, I like to drive my little Fit more than my 1968 Charger now! Did I just say that....?
Anyway enjoy your new ride

Now im just hoping to squeeze out 40 mpg. I am driving this first tank of 93 octane real gingerly to see what I can get.
