request DIY - Upgrade the big 3

I've heard people say this so many times the big 3 I'm not sure which wires to replace or what wires to buy. My system is draining the crap out of my stock battery I'm going to upgrade the battery to a bigger new one. I'd like at the same time to upgrade the wires as well. Bigger ground bigger power wire w.e those three are.

Also installing a capacitor in the trunk to minimize the strain on the battery. If my dimming continues I'm looking at spending $300 on a new h/o alternator then probably $100-$150 for someone to fab up a bracket since they don't make a h/o for our car.

All the help is greatly appreciated. Also my friend who knows more then I do says their mite be some JDM wires that are bigger and probably a color this would be good for the car show judges so if that's true id also like you to point me to those.

THANK YOUUUUUUUUU!

A couple 1ga neg. terminal to chassis ground, and a few engine/trans to chassis grounds couldn't hurt. Seperate charge wire and fuse from alt to battery and bigger accessory ground are all gonna help.

A 1-2Far Capacitor to pick up rapid fluctuations would be a good idea as well. Be careful!

I would recommend batteries from Braille, Odyssey, Optima and Bosch in that order.

AGM batteries are better for a car that doesn't sit alot, or is driven daily.

Make sure there is a high reserve limit, and if you have cold winters, like zero or below a high CCA, like >650 would be a good idea.

Also, instead of mounting your own aftermarket witha custom bracket, see if anyone in your area can rewind your alternator for higher out put, or you can source a smaller alternator pulley.

Ok guys I was the one looking for the DIY so I will make one.

First im purchasing the odyssey battery
1. its larger capacity
2. better quality then stock
3. also getting the relocater

I'm also purchasing the battery relocater and they are including brass terminals.
Password:JDM Battery Relocator 07-08 Fit
Base Price: $89.99
Odyssey PC 680 Battery + Brass Terminals (+ $140.00)

This is a great price for everything im getting.
- cleaning up the engine bay
- stop dimming lights
- upgraded terminals

I will document the install from start to finish and do a DIY write up soon!!

Also ordering a few little things from password jdm to make the engine bay a little sexed up. Then from crutchfield I'm buying Tsunami 1.2 farad capacitor and some wire. I'm hoping all this stops the dimming im experiencing.

What type of shop would I go to to have the alternator turned into a h/o?
tuner shop, mechanic shop, electronic shop? Just not sure! lol

If you are relocating the battery make sure you use 1 or 0ga high density cable, and get a big one too. I have a 1115CCA, 1520CA Braille Endurance that weighs 58lbs in my race car lol This required a 15"L box which you can get from Summit for a reasonable price.

As far as what shops will wind your alternator, you may have to just search your area a bit, or find a smaller pulley.
