How does a dummy replace the glove box lid?

Hello I just joined this forum. I'll get right to the question. I just bought a 2012 Honda fit sport. My sister-in-law wants to ride with me while on vacation and she is a large lady. While putting her large leather pocketbook in the floor she scratched my glove box door! I don't even have 2000 miles on it yet. It's a deep scratch and I can't bare to look at this, so I ordered a new one. I have looked at the door but I don't see how to remove it? The dealership said they only sell the whole glove box assembly. I wonder if I can only replace the door (lid)? Any help would be appreciated. The parts guy looked at kind of funny when I wanted a glove box lid for a new car. I looked at him equally as funny when I paid for it. By the way the sister-in-law don't even know she did it. I think so anyway.

So you bought the whole assembly/glove box right?

Easy to replace. Open the glove box and empty it. Then push/squeeze in on the sides hard to release catches on either side while pulling out gently. Then under the dash there are two bolts at the front edge holding the box in. Remove those and take box out.

Next time use the hatch when loading the SinL.

Wait til after the trip, so you won't have to buy another one. use double sided tape and mount a note pad or something useful, map? If she did it, it will happen again!

It may not have come out right but she scratched it during a recent vacation. To make matters worse the next day she was getting into the back seat and my wife slammed the door on her hand. I had told my wife to make sure she sat in the front seat the rest of the vacation. Funny thing after her hand was was shut in the door she rode with her son in-law the rest of the trip.

Installation/removal guide right from Honda. If you ask the parts person at the dealer they will probably print this for you too.

Yeah to me it looks like just 2 clips. As always, be careful with the clips.

The part came in and it's installed. Once I took the bolts out it sort of just came out on it's own. Thanks for everybody's help.

You aren't the only one who scratched the glove box door with less than 2K on it! I've been living with a scratch on my lower glove box door for two years now. I don't know where to look for a replacement, I'm sure that my bf can install it if I order one. Anyone have a good lead on a replacement lower 2010 fit glove compartment door? Btw. First forum post ever!
