Overheating Problem. Where do I start?
Hello,
I am having a hard time trying to diagnose my overheating problem. According to the readings on my OBDII scanner paired up with DashCommand on iPad, my coolant temp is running at about 240. As soon as it hits 241, which it does quite frequently, the light blinks. I then have to turn on the heater to make it drop down to about 230. I checked the coolant which was supposedly replaced before I purchased this vehicle 3 months ago, but this problem just started happening so I'm not sure that it is an air pocket problem or not. Where should I start? Thanks for your help in advance, much appreciated.

The following are general steps.
I have never had to work on an over heating problem on a Fit.
1. Check the radiator coolant level.
2. Check the anti-freeze level in the over flow bottle.
3. Check the belt tensioner.
4. Replace the thermostat.
5. Replace the temperature sender.
6. Blow out the fins of the radiator with air or water to remove any accumulated bugs.
7. Flush the radiator and cooling system with a good cleaner.
8. Check that radiator fan(s) work at coolant temps above 210-215 degrees.

Check your radiator fans. On my '07, the fans cycle on at 210*F (OBD Scanguage temp) and off at 200*F with the A/C off. With the A/C on one of them cycles with the compressor. At highway speed the temps never get that high and stay around 180*F.
