2010 Fit - Fresh air vent won't go fully closed

Hello all,
I have 2010 Honda Fit Base Model. My fresh air vent (the slider in the center console that either lets fresh air into the car or stops outside air from going in) is stuck on the open/let air in setting. I can slide it half way (to the middle) but no further.

Any ideas why this would happen? I have a guess...we have lots of mice out here and they build nests in bad spots. Any idea how I can fix this?

Thanks a million - J

It's not an especially complex mechanism; the lever moves a Bowden cable, the other end of which moves a flap in the air box via a lever arm. Apparently something is getting stuck. You'd probably have to disassemble and examine stuff to see what is binding.

Some members have reported that the cable pops out of the clip holding it in place. Take out your glove box and you should be able to get your hand in there to see if that might be your problem.
