Hello All! New member here, have been lurking for a while. I just bought this 2008 fit sport edition and am pretty happy. Everything is great except some rust dots on the hood and a gas smell at idle but that's another thread

Here you can see my new car, a big step up from a 93 Civic.

And here on the hood you can see a couple rust dots (possibly from rocks or something from the previous owner)

I was thinking of just getting the storm silver paint and touching all these marks up. Do you guys have any other suggestions? Thanks for viewing!

 

Kind of hard to tell it those are rock chips that rusted or gunk. Try a claybar on them and see if they go away.

 

Agree and if not a very careful sanding away of rust if it i. Then use a toothpick to apply a dot of touch-up paint.

 

I can promise these are chips of removed paint where rust has formed.

Should I still use a clay bar?
If not, how do I sandpaper an area that is about 1mm long?
If I just applied paint will it bubble over since I didn't remove the rust?

 

very carefully try to knock off as much as you can then a dab of paint. I have done this many times on mine.

I bought the kit for our Acura, it was getting fairly "sandblasted" after 160,000 miles of Interstates.

The kit worked fairly well for me, but there wasn't enough paint to do everything I needed (hood, bumpers, rearview mirrors)

 

I just bought the touchup paint from Honda on Amazon. $8.01 with included shipping. I just read how I don't need the clearcoat pen for the job because it is a small spot. Thanks anyways.

 

Use a toothpick to fill holes with paint. The brush in the touch-up paint puts on too much.
