How to Remove Paint from Tail Lights! *WORKED PERFECTLY*

I just bought a 2013 Honda Fit Sport and am so happy with it. The only problem was that the guy who had it before had tried to paint/tint the tail lights but did pretty much the worst job ever. The lines where he tried to mask out parts were aweful and jagged and messy. He also must have sprayed way to closely to the surface because there were some pretty apparent drips of paint running down the lights as you can see in this picture!

Needless to say, there was no way I could leave them looking that way. After, looking around to find out the best/easiest way to get rid of the paint, without it ruinging the plastic of the light, I decided to give the spray on Carb Cleaner method a go. For the most part, it worked well and started to break through the thick layer of paint, but I was getting nervous because there was still a reddish haze that didn't seem to want to go away. My dad then suggested to maybe try one of those "Mr. Clean Magic Erasers". I kinda scoffed at him because I figured there was no way something like that would work, if carb cleaner couldnt even get it all off. But I gave it a go anyway....AND IT WORKED SO WELL (with a little elbow grease)! It took off all the remaining red tint and haze with no problem at all! My tail lights are back to normal and look great! No harm to the plastic either! Check it out!

The Magic Eraser will have left fine scratches on the tail lights. Probably not a big deal to most, but you will need to buff them out to get maximum clarity back out of the light.

Done and done! I used some PlastX and polished them back and now they are nice and super clear.
