Painted Tail Light Removal?
Painted Tail Light Removal?
Hey guys! I just became a new Fit owner last night! I bought a used 2013 MT Fit Sport in the Vortex Blue Pearl! I'm super stoked to say the least!
Anyways, I love the car already, but just have one problem with it. The previous owner masked out bits of the tail lights and painted them with some sort of red paint/tint and did a pretty bad job on it all. The lines where they masked it out are really aparent and you can also see some drips/runs in the paint/tint as you can see from these pictures in the link below.
Needless to say, I want to get rid of the paint/tint, so I can do it over and do it better. Any ideas of how to get rid of this paint/tint without hurting or damaging the tail light plastic? Thanks everyone for all the help in advance!

When I bought a car with tinted tails I sanded them down and polished them back. Probably more effort than most would want though.
I started with sandpapers - 1000-3000 grit in 500 grit increments.
Then went over with a compound and a light cutting pad on my DA.
Folowed with a light polish on a light cutting pad.
Lastly a sealant to protect.
