Headache - Engine Ticking 2003 Model
Hi guys
I have read a lot about the problem of my car but have not yet come to a conclusion, I attended several workshops and say different things about the ticking noise.
read here in the forum that it was a normal noise, but the model referred was 2015, mine is a honda jazz 2003 - 1.2 cc petrol engine with 117,000 km bought in 2nd hand and do not remember making this noise.
I've read that it could be necessary to adjust the valves, the oil pressure is ok have oil 10w40, but they told me it was best I place 5w30 in the next revision.
The noise is continuous since the beginning of the journey to the end, after the car warm up, continues to make the same ticking
sounds like this:
I was thinking about going to honda tomorrow, to see what they tell me.
I can not sleep thinking about it.
Thank you in advance

No experience with non- North American Fits,
But if it sounds like the video and is, indeed, the Purge Control Solenoid Valve, you would not have to lose sleep.
The PCSV is part of the evaporative emissions system. It helps the car test whether the vapor system in the fuel tank is preventing hydrocarbons from entering the atmosphere.
I also noted in the Comments that the poster of the video DID replace his valve but the problem remained!

Hi Carbuff2
I am from Portugal and i have a honda jazz 1.2 2003
I made a video to show you the real sound:

<embed width="440" height="420" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://v8.tinypic.com/player.swf?file=2uh9u2a&s=8"><br><font size="1"><a href="http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=2uh9u2a&s=8">Original Video</a> - More videos at <a href="http://tinypic.com">TinyPic</a></font>
I think its from the fan belt or the Pulley bearing, I am more inclined to bearing pulley, because I put water on the belt and the noise has not disappeared.
Thank You

Your sound is not as 'distinct' as the tapping sound on the PCSV vid.
Sounds more like a belt, to me. A bearing should not be ruled out (does your engine have a tensioner AND an idler?)
If you do not know the age (in time) of your belt, replace it for sure. While the belt is off you can feel the idlers, looking for any roughness or end-play that would indicate the need for replacement.
FWIW, we replaced the serpentine belt at 105K miles on our '07 (seven years), all the idlers were fine.
Good Luck, it is difficult to diagnose noises over the Internet.

over the internet it's tricky, i went to see where are the poli and only saw three poli, i expect more polis.
So, i don't have A/C, so i think it's for assisted direction, alternator and water pump
I look on the internet, and here is my motor i-DSI
I look here: Drive Belt Replacement
it's just release the alternator, and put the new one?
I really need a belt tension gauge?
Thank You so much
