1997 Honda Fit acceleration proble
Hi all,
I am a newbie on this site and am seeking some advice.
My 97 Fit with manual transmission has 130,000 miles and has been running like a top until recently.
The car idles just fine. During acceleration in any gear it jerks/hesitates getting up to speed. The harder you push it the worse it is. I hardly notice it when gently accelerating.
Should I be focusing on adjusting the valves as it has never been done? The plugs have been changed within the last 20,000 miles.
Any thoughts on what might cause this would be appreciated. Thanks

Anyway, if it's an '07,
Valves should be adjusted for sure, and you should consider replacing the coil-packs over the spark plugs with OEM or Hitachi's part number ending in 053.
While you are doing that, verify that the proper Iridium plugs were installed 20K miles ago. Other types will NOT last.
Make sure to post back with the outcomes.

Hi there - I thought I would post back with my results. The coil pack closest to the serpentine belt was the answer to my acceleration issue. Yea!! Thanks for your help. Soon after (coincidence?) the service engine soon light came on. The error code that Autozone pulled up was P2647 pointing to oil level, or VTEC pressure switch.
I figure I should go to another thread to post this for ideas? Let me know your thoughts.
