Relocate Battery for Better Breathing?

Has anyone relocated their battery to the back? Looking at all the pictures of CAI, it only makes sense to move the battery to the hatch and use the space to house a filter.

The benefits are all worthwhile. 30lbs off the front left tire and reapplied to the very light rear. No curves in the intake tube. Use whatever pipe you want. Lots of room for a large filter. Building a containment box would be simple. Fresh air could come from the stock airbox feeder, an NACA scoop on the hood, or from the base of the windshield.

I made my own CAI for my Cooper from a Weapon R Civic kit. Originally, it was a long straight 4" tube with a 75 degree smooth bend at the end. I got it for $40. The curve adapted well to the Mini. The straight would work well here (shame I don't have it any more). I know there are plenty of kits like this that could be adapted to the Fit, and they're not expensive.

I don't have my Fit yet (my order is in) so if someone else gets around to relocating the battery and puts together a DIY CAI, please post pictures here. If not, then I'll be the first come June.

I'd love to relocate my battery. THe only problem is the SUPER long ground. It might cause some problems

Just run a 0/1 size positive wire and get a clean ground anywhere on the body.

Huh? Ground it to the trunk wall with a 0/1 gauge wire....

The Mini Cooper S has the battery in the hatch. It's really not that far to run a wire. It really depends on the route you can take. 4-gauge to the starter is adequate, although from the battery it probably goes through a [big] fuse. I'd have to check the wiring to be certain. Although, 0/1 wouldn't hurt. For charging, the alternator would have to be wired into that starter circuit too, so you don't have to run two wires back. Again, I'd have to look at the car to see how charging is done as stock.

The bigger issue may be battery location, and the reliability of the smaller batteries. Much has been said on many sites about the Odyssey, Deca, Featherweight, and now Interstate batteries regarding their size and power. Any would work for the minimal demands of this mighty mouse motor. But without having one in my driveway yet, I can't tell where one might put it. Is there room with the spare tire? Or somewhere else?
