Think the L15 can be made fast?

I know there has been a fit or two that had a few boltons thrown at it, and now turbos and superchargers, but they dont seem to make a huge amount of power...ive been thinking about a k swap, but i also really want to try and build up the l15... My question is will the L15 become a strong competitor later on when more parts come out, like the b16 has been for the civic, or does its design make it impossible to make alot of power out of?

thanks in advance for the insight guys and gals =)

805FitSport dynoed nice. 107whp all motor. I,H,E, and underdrive pulley.
Spray I think it was high 190's? It was 100shot. The motors and transmissions are strong.

His car must have been sick. Too bad he traded it in for a 4door Si. :-/

sorry it took forever for me to answer...im not sure what the HP numbers im looking for are...im thinkin id probably wana hit somewhere near 300, i know right NOW thats basically an impossibility but what im wondering is with a turbo set up and parts that may come out later on if thats plausible? and do you think our cars could hold up to that kind of power?

just a question, if you want a car that has around 300 hp why did you buy a honda fit instead of a subaru wrx sti limited edition that can give you 293 hp ?,at least 293 hp is close to 300 and you dont have to do anything.

honestly, i had thought about the wrx, but A. it cost more B. it wasnt a hatch and C. it didnt get nearly as good of gas mileage (c kinda is down the drain really)

well if u want to push 300hp, you would be dumping thousands into that engine. for like $7.5-8k u can get a k20a2 swap and a eg shell + parts and be running low 13's high 12's. If you know the right people. I am able to get a k20a2 swap for around 2.8k at a vendor in jersey. That is what i would have done if i didn't need a new/realistic DD for college.

Everybody in the world knows that a subaru wrx is a compact sports car,you dont expect to have a good mileage in a sports car,in short theres a big wall that seperates between fuel economy & horsepower,if you want good gas mileage you lose horsepower,if you want horsepower you lose fuel economy,a toyota prius & a subaru wrx is one good example, and by the way what numbers are considered to you as good gas mileage?coz subaru wrx sti advertised 19 city/ 25 highway, for me honda fit is designed for fuel economy, fit freak members can spend 4 thousand to 5 thousand or more in modifying their cars but still it's a slow car,in short it ai'nt worth it in my opinion.

woo hell yea. Do a frank build , their is a k24 shortblock on h-t for $500+shipping, then buy a k20a2 head, k20a3 trans, and then boost it. I would be scared to put that in a fit though. maybe a full out caged bubble.

Keep in mind people that a 200whp Fit will fell DAMN strong because of the weight. 200whp is plenty do-able in the Fit with the L15.

Shoot 160whp felt fast in the JRSC fit. 200whp would definitely be enough.

Yep. It's all about the power to weight ratio - not just raw horse power.

What is a good whp rating to hang with 500whp STi's and Evo's?

Ok I want to make my fit fast but don't know if I should stay with the L15 motor or get a K20 and boost it. I know I can get about 150whp out of the L15 but is there any rods and pistons for it? If I get a K20 I know I can push 400+whp. What should I do???

Exclamation Just my personal opinion...

The way my Fit currently handles it is quick. By quick I mean nimble steering and not having to slow down (well...within reason ) in curves while most other cars on the road apply brakes. Thanks T1R coilovers, Cusco Front & Rear Strut Tower Bars and sticky BF Goodrich G-force Sport tires!

It's when I hit straightaways or when the stoplight turns green that I realize the lack of raw power in my A/T even with a I/H/E and lightweight pulley. I'm eagerly awaiting the forced induction offerings from Jackson Racing, T1R, Greddy, etc.

I even considered going with the bottle but I'd be on that thing all the time!

I wouldn't mind giving an STi or Evo a run for it's money but I gotta keep it real - my car is a gas sipping daily commuter that currently looks fast but isn't really fast...yet.

Oh yeah, my buddy "gettinafit" is currently dumping a K20 into his Fit so I'll have some first hand experience in a FAST Fit soon enough...
