Question 50mm & 60mm for a non vtec fit

Hi everyone,

just wondering if you can gain more power with a 60mm instead of 5omm , or you may loose power since it may loose back pressure ?

Appreciate your feedbacks

In the case of the Fit, if you were to stay NA, then 50mm would be the way to go. But keep in mind that the Fit and other car's similar to it like the Yaris and Versa with motor's smaller then 2.0L is probably the only time where 50mm would be optimal in a NA setup.

The NA catback standard though for cars above 1.5L is 60mm. Just take a look at any popular line of exhausts from any of the major tuner firms and you will see 60mm is the standard and 70-80mm is the standard for Turbo.

For the Fit if you were to go Turbo you might be able to get away with 60mm piping but generally speaking that is rather small for a Turbo application. For Turbo application most would recommend no less then 2.5" or about 65mm but like I said before the Fit isnt really the norm in terms of motor size so 60mm for Turbo.

I understood that JDMGD3, however, in Indonesia the jazz/fit of non Vtec (IDSI) is 1.5 l. So far with the Tanabe G Fordan (I guess it's as = to Concept G) is with 50mm, and some how I felt that I loose the lower end. Funny think though I use another aftermarket exhaust (60mm) with my own axel back piping fabrication (2 1/4 in) prior to this set up, I felt greater power especially in the 1st, 2nd and up to 3rd gear. on the 4th and 5th is still pulling but a little less; I believe it went stabel.

At this moment I only put apexi intake with tanabe g fordan 50mm axel back with stock mid pipe and header. Therefore, should I replace the exahust system to a 60mm (hopefully full cat back system like Spoon or J's) instead assuming that there will be more power ?

I highly appreciate your feedbacks

When I bought my exhaust, I asked the Modacar.com people which one is better, the 50 or 60 mm. They suggested the same as the guy stated above, 50 mm for N/A and 60 mm for Turbo/super.

This is the same advice offered by Skunk2, who offer both a 50mm and 60mm system.

I unserstand your point, thoguh I'm very satisfied with the setup and the result for now. I think I'll play in either the header or midpipe to get better power, although I do plan to squeeze in a turbo kit later on

Ive been looking at the skunk2 exhausts and i saw they had the choice of 50 or 60mm. I understand that the 60mm is geared more towards turbo/sc setups and 50mm is for just regular setups. Its not bad tho to get the 60mm right? Would the 60mm give off more of a louder exhaust sound or would the 50 and 60 pretty much sound all the same?
