Ingalls Torque Damper (Problem Solved) WITH PIX!

Just installed this last night! Noticable reduction in engine movement, wheel hop, smoother shifts, and better throttle response. Money well spent IMO... (pic below). Got mine from Panducky Motorsports

I have one question for anybody with an ETD in their fit...
Is there supposed to be any noise AT ALL coming from the ETD (im guessing not)? Because on mine, it makes a noise that could almost sound like a CAI if i didn't know better. I think its coming from the engine bracket vibrating against the engine itself from ~2.5K RPMs and up... Is this normal, and if so, will this loosten the ETD over time? any input appreciated

EDIT: I found the problem within 5 minutes of making this post. When installing the engine bracket, i guess i wasn't paying attention and installed the small spacer on the wrong side of the bracket, causing the bracket to be touching the engine. I will fix when i get out of work and post pictures of how NOT to install the ETD

EDIT 2: The 1st pic below is the WRONG way to put the spacer on, although i doubt any of you will be dumb enough as me to put it on backwards. But here's what I did...

The spacer to the upper-right of the ETD is supposed to be IN BETWEEN the bracket and engine, for obvious reasons. Why my dumbass put it there i will never know.

^-----This is the result of putting it on the wrong side: The obvious GAP between the bracket and engine to the left, as well as them touching a bit further right. It was this contact that was causing the sound. Honestly, i was starting to like the sound.... a lot But it can't stay so as soon as i get outta work, im gonna fix it, and maybe post sum pix 2morrow of how its supposed to look!

There is a preload adjustment, 15mm being the softest, 10mm being the hardest. mine's set to ~12.75mm. So far very little difference in vibration, and only if your sitting in the drivers seat. Once i move the spacer to where it should be, i think it should get even better. I'll take a pic of the chasis bracket in 2 minutes, be right back

Here's the chasis bracket, how's that for service?

if you look at there install directions to, I think you installed the washers on the damper itself wrong, like there should be a rubber washer on both sides of the damper on the bracket . . .kinda drunk . . .will explain more tomorrow, but look at the install pic, looks like they put both washers on the left side of the damper on the chassis bracket if your looking at it from the front of the car . .

I think you better check the bolt on the rear part bracket also. The bolt is only engaging a few threads it doesn't even come out to the end of the nut. That is going to vibrate off very quickly.

about 180 from panducky motorsports. great C/S, got it really fast

Earthmover and Claymore - Thanks for pointing that stuff out! I'll be getting in contact with either ingalls or panducky to make sure everything is on good. There's a lot of hardware, and the instructions can be very unclear at points. I'll let you all know of any other changes i make in the near future.

just ordered one myself, thanks for the writeup. I was looking for an NRG one, they offer different colors but no applications for a Fit. Spoon also make one, but a little more pricey.

I want to get one of these also, talked to Ben@A&J the other day about the NA Spoon damper and it hasnt been released yet but when it does it will be almost $100 more then this also I dont believe it has any way to adjust for more or less firmness in the damper, the dampness is fixed from Spoon so it might suit some people and not others. Seeing as Spoon's parts are more for racing purposes I would say its more on the stiffer side then soft but Ben can chime in on that.

Just talked to Todd@Ingalls, he told me that from Ingalls the dampening is set to 14mm which is considered optimal as far as Ingalls is concerned. Also most questions about the Stiffy can be answered at ETD-FAQ

Also he said taking it off and on is pretty simple and is the only recommended way to go about adjusting it if you have the need to but he said to make sure you follow the instructions the first few times until you get the procedure down well enough since if done wrong, you can break the damper end links.

small update: fixed the setup a few weeks ago, and all is well...
I put the washer where its supposed to go, and double checked everything. Now its very smooth, no noise, like it's supposed to be. It vibrates SLIGHTLY when its very cold out, like today, but besides that, it seems pefect. Thanks for all the help guys!

Glad you like it. I have the Mugen Strut bar and there is no clearance issues at all! I love mine as well. We have plenty here in stock and ready to go.
