lol it won't let you say the name of a candy... Klondieik but spelled you know how. And I think a lot of you are missing the point. Your telling me you would throw the B series you ALREADY OWN!!!!! and go out and spend money on the K series... sure it's "old technology" but there are still debates out there in all forums of whether K swaps or B swaps are better/worse/cheap/efficient blah blah... So again, why? I say do it, dont go spend thousands on a motor if you have two motors that will still be great!

i went with a k series in my ek is because i needed something more powerful then my B16B that i previously had in my car, so applying the same theory i am looking for something with more power for my Honda Fit and wanted to see how much and gauge the difficulty level in doing a B Series Swap. Here the Break down for my Ek9 K20 Swap:

- K20 Type R $4800
- Swap Parts Needed $2000 ( Hasport Axle and Mounts, AC&PS Removal, Hybrid Harness, Shifter Kit, Fuel Lines, Fuel Regulator, Clutch Line)
- Exedy Clutch and Flywheel $500

So CLose to $7500 to get a k series into a Ek9, lets say parts and labor to get my B16B into my Fit (which makes 80-90hp more then the Fit ) also comes with a LSD Tranny and close gear ratios and spend like $4000 (which is pretty much excluding the cost of the K series then why not????

So the B20 you have, its VTEC so a B20A? If so, my god. Thats an old engine.

The B16B would be a ton of fun. 185 HP in the Fit? Damn. One problem that might come up is doesn't the B16B spin the wrong way to be put in the Fit?

I believe they are mounted differently aren't they? K-series vs B-series, thus wouldn't fabricating the swap parts be entirely difficult and even more expensive?

yeah, b-series are mounted with the exhaust manifold facing the front of the car.
i don't think it's legal in CA to swap in a motor that is older than the vehicle. but if you don't care about that, I say go for it. it would be fun!

Yeah i took the the engine direction into consideration but wouldn't that be the same situation about putting k series into ef/eg/ek/dc which had a d series/b series all with the headers going the opposite as the car receiving the transplant. what i was thinking was to move the engine placement little bit back so the headers can clear the radiator and fan and still have good axle geometry

I'd deffo go for the b series, I used to love the vtec kick in my old dc2 teg type r far more than the civic type r k20 we get. In the brand new civic they've set the engine up so you can't really feel it coming, where's the fun??!

I dunno. I still say it is a waste. When you can go grab a eg shell and throw the swap in for way less than all the fabrication needed to be done to the Fit. Plus a lighter car overall.

I dunno, just my opinion.

Either way it's illegal to install the older engine into a USDM fit so why waste all the time and money to put it in and not be able to drive it on the road?

well the thing to consider is where are all the k-series engine coming from pre 2006 cars or from japan, and on top of all that the engine has to retain all the emission equipment which Japanese cars don't have . So when we are talking about swapping an engine into the Fit having it be legal is already thrown out the window, but thanks for your input

Ok CA and GA. All I know about.

My state doesn't have it, that is for sure. My friend has a 94 s10 with a fully built 350 w/ a blower on it. Older engine etc.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't a B-series a OBD I engine? If I remember right you cant put a OBD I engine in a car that had a OBD II with out having to rewire the entire car.

b series came obd-0 all the way to obd-2 , but you can convert a obd-2 car to obd-1 as simple as a conversion jumper harness and one of the main reason for that is that the OBD-1 you can do real time tuning using an emulator and crome software
