afe stageII intake for the fit

dont know if any one has talked about this one yet, i just stumbled acrss it and figured id post it up for those of you who might not know of it. on afe's site it is like $189.00. i just like it because it comes with the sheild.

i am considering this intake over any other intakes out there. i really want a t1r or j's racing but i cant seem to justify paying 20 less for my intake than i did for my exhaust and springs combined. what do you all think?

does any one have any experience with this intake or any of their products?

Looking at the design, you might as well do the DIY intake. It'd be easier on your pocket, that's for sure.

Those afe products are pretty well supported by everyone that i have know that's had one, but i think cojaro has a good point. A DIY intake would take $35-$40 and be just about as effective as this one.

i had been considering that approach as well. im not to sure how i want to go about it. this is just like any other short ram out there for the fit right now. i mean... this is a list of prices that i pulled off google.

apexi power intake $110
t1r bmax $399
k&n (crap) typhoon $180
weapon r secret weapon $180
fujita short ram $160
mishimoto carbon fiber $220
hks super mega flow $130
zero 1000 $149
honda-veni carbon intake $680
passwordjdm power chamber $250
j's intake $780

now i could spend an arm and a leg and get something that looks killer sounds great and has a name that envokes erections among the tuner crowd when mentioned. or i could spend $40 and piece it together with the autozone intake parts, and then have to work on fitting the IAT sensor. either way, with our cars an intake is only going to get you so much of a gain. i just like this one because of the fact that it comes with a heat shield and is made of a composite plastic, it has been spoken about on the forum i just dont remeber what thread it is in, take a car with a metal tube intake out for an hour, park it and put your hand on the tube. you are garunteed to burn your self. now take a car with a plastic intake and drive it around for an hour, park and touch it. your not going to get burnt. but thats just my opinion. and you know what they say about opinions... they are just like butt holes, every one has one.

i think im going to go ahead and get it. i think im going to replace the filter with an apexi filter, i dont like how the one it comes with looks. unless any of you know of any other cone filters that might add a bit more flow.

*quick question, i was thinking that when i got this i would either paint the heat shield to match my intake manifold cover (red) or leave the heat shield black and paint the piping to match. which one do you all think would look better?

well if you follow this link
advanced Flow engineering (aFe) Air Filters & Intake Systems
it takes you to afe's official web site. there is another link at the bottom of the page (buy it now) that re-directs you to their online store. i went through every page and searched through every single product number and didnt see it on there. unless i missed it i dont think it is listed yet. im going to give them a call and see if they have them stocked and ready for shipping.

To be honest, for $190, I'd rather go with a CAI

Nevermind, yours is auto...you could always make your own A/T CAI!! Do the $40 intake, then get some ducting and route it into your fender!

i thought about that one to, i think im going to get this one, the more that i look at it the more i like it. if its good its good, and if its bad then that sucks. it will give me a chance to write a review to let everyone else on here know if its crunk or if its junk. i also figured that if it wasnt anything speacial that i would just play around with it, like try to modify the sheild in to a full box or extend the piping. maybe make the shield a full box and run some ducting through the fender to make it a cold air.

LOL! Ignore me, I was having one of those engineering moments! If this one isn't giving you as much power as you would like, it would be a pretty simple process to route some ducting from the intake of this one and into the fender now that it is already directed in that general direction!

Now, with all this usefull info made available to future buyers, it would be awesome if you or a fellow member started an "Official Intake tread".

I found the tread on the header very useful in making my choice over the numerous ones available.

That being said, isn't it amaizing to discover how much the Aftermarket industry is interested by our little Fit.
Is it the same with the Yaris or the Versa?

Thats actually pretty nice. I was thinking of changing my Aspec CAI sometime.
Id like a intake with a heatshield. Power gains are nice too. I like the plastic piping rather than metal.
