New Fuel Mgmt Module - Need Input
New Fuel Mgmt Module - Need Input
I'm a noob to this forum but have had my FIT since 7/06. I am just now considering some new mods.
I need to know:
1) Is the throttle fly-by-wire or is it standard pull cable?
2) Where is the TPS (throttle position sensor) located?
From my quick research, it looks as though there aren't any differences in the drivetrain from stock Fit/Jazz models. Is this true?
I also know that for the US, there is typically a difference in the emissions system between 49 state and California. Anyone have clarification on this one?
I am going to be a tester for a company that develops closed-loop fuel management modules and they are designing one specifically for the Honda FIT. These modules are currently available for F150's, 'vettes and a handful of other auto's. I currently run a module that was specifically designed for my '04 Honda VTX 1800 (actually there are easily 50+ VTX riders that have this module installed).
Basically problems can arise when you change intake, exhaust or other performance mods. The computer will often throw codes as the factory settings aren't reading at their "optimum" levels. This results in the computer trying to constantly adjust for the changes, which often leaves you with less than optimal performance.
This closed-loop fuel management system automatically takes readings from several places (throttle position sensor or TPS, 02 sensors, etc.) and adjusts for optimal performance.
Other fuel mgmt systems that require an upload of maps are static in that they are tuned for optimal accelleration or top speed or fuel economy. At a red light, you don't want your system tuned and running for 1/4 mile runs. On the other hand, you don't want to be stuck behind an 18-wheeler just because you tuned for optimal fuel economy.
I'm not a tech so am totally open to clarification on closed-loop vs. open-loop systems.
Any and all comments are greatly appreciated!

Wow, your post is huge. Have a look through the modificaiton thread, a lot of what you need is there for sure.

NA model is DBW, the JDM model is mechanical throttle
