HKS Hi-Power Review
HKS Hi-Power Review
So I got my HKS Hi-Power N1 style exhaust today.
#1. It looked beautiful, well made, solid, and well packaged from AdvanceSpeedShop.com.
#2. Installation was a breeze(5minutes), of course, didn't even need to jack up the car and I'm dropped on progress springs.
#3. The sound is so much better than even any of the videos did it justice. The tone is deep and throaty, beautiful even. Honestly, I think it sounds a lot like my Greddy Evo2 catback that I had on my 99 Eclipse, except much quieter and less wild.
#4. On that note, the exhaust is SO QUIET when I want it to be! Under light load up to 3k rpms, the exhaust is just a bit louder than stock. Only loud enough for you to appreciate the sound of the exhaust. I doubt it's any louder than a 350z stock. Cruising @ 40, 60, 70, 80, you can't even hear the exhaust. It sounds like stock. Absolutely NO drone. However, under full throttle it sounds quite mean and not at all ricey/buzzy/etc. It's a deep growl, I love it.
#5. I was surprised by the butt dyno. I didn't really expect any gains in just replacing the muffler alone, but I was wrong! I think that the gains I felt from the Hi-Power were equal to if not even more noticible than when I put on the Weapon R Street Header. Very impressed.
Overall, I'm really glad I didn't shell out the extra $130 for the Tanabe Medallion Touring. The HKS Hi-Power is, in my opinion, the perfect fit exhaust. Quiet when you cruise, loud when you want it to be, and bringing performance to the table, I couldn't ask for more.
So: TWO THUMBS UP! 4 STARS! Well spent $260 and if I had known what I'd be getting I would have paid another $150.

Had one on my 92 integra w/ b16. Sounded super calm until you gunned it and then it was a beast with a Pavarotti smoothness. Great sound for a good performing exhaust. My RSR was still the best sounding but didnt have enough top end power.
I was thinking about getting the megan, but it sounded really buzzy to me and it sounded like it lacked deep tone. The $40 more you pay for the HKS seems like nothing when you witness the exhaust yourself!

Nice! I just got mines in on Monday and the install was to easy lol All I have is just the axle back and a injen CAI. Gonna get the rest of the exhaust soon but still unsure of which way to go for companys. I got mines from ClubRSX it was like $260 2 day shipping but that really didnt matter since it was a special order for about a month lol
