my intake (in the works...)
my intake (in the works...)
Well i've had this ebay intake on the car for a while, the filter was position in a horrible spot, right above the skiplate, and where there were no holes in the skidplate. after 2-3 oil changes on the car, the filter started to get motor oil on it, it would get wet from the roads and the oil from the filter would run and get sucked up into the intake(not far enough to get sucked into the engine tho)...took it out about a week ago, cut the pipe and positioned it into a different spot.
right now it is being held on by zipties(lol), i am having trouble locating a long enough metric bolt for what i need to do, should have one in a couple days so i can take off the zip ties. i am also using a horrible filter, its for 4" pipe and has a 3.5", 3" and a 2.5" reducer(the 2.5 reducer i had to make by cutting the rubber off of my old filter). this filter will be changed this weekend to one that actually fits. i am goin to a local speedshop to get a custom midpipe done and i will get a better filter while i am there...
i will also be picking up some insulation later in the week for the radiator hose and the intake. right now it is hotttt to the touch ;/ if the insulating and better filter doesnt work...im not sure what intake i will use. i am pretty sure this will work out just fine tho once it is complete, right now not too happy with how hot it is tho...
any way here are some current pics so you can see what my plans are.

no offense, but you would probably just be better off dropping the dough on a fujita CAI, the filter is positioned right behind the air vents next to the fog light location. what you have there looks... ugly. sorry.
does your intake kinda drop the filter past the tranny a lil? if so my intake was like that before and there is no good airflow down there, so all i got was hot air so i repositioned my intake to go infront of the battery and i think down through the hole the stock intake got air from. i also put pipe insulation around my intake, go HDR(home depot racing), to keep the engine bay heat from warming it up, after driving my intake doesn't feel hot at all.
i might post pics up later if i feel like it

yeah the filter sits down past the tranny, and actually since i messed around with it last and drove it around, its not hot at all anymore, its nearly the same temp it was when it was down by the foglight hosing... ive positioned it further away from the hoses. i do plan on wrapping it in insulation and wrapping the radiator hoses in insulation also.
i dont think i will spend money on another intake. i will keep this or go back to the stock as all my money is being saved for the t1r right now. and purchasing a 3-400$ intake would just be a waste of money if its coming off any ways...

i agree its ugly...but only 'ugly' because of the zipties(to me anyways)...and as i stated above, the zip ties are only a temporary fix until i get a long enough metric bolt this weekend.
