A couple of noob questions

Hi FF, okay before i ask you guys anything, i want you to know that i am a COMPLETE noob at modifications and that sort of thing so please look over me

I'm really interested in your USDM fit's and love the engine bays and wanna know if all stock ones come looking like this:

1.

Size: 85.6 KB

or

2.

Sorry about the state of my engine bay

If it's 1, then what kinda stuff did you do to make it all nice and pretty like 2. And how can you convert the flat air filter into the cone type?

Thanks guys, and sorry fitster for nicking your pic without asking!

Edit: sorry about picture sizes, it wont let me resize them

The second picture has a championship bronze fujita short ram, you can get them from fujita. I ordered one about two months ago and it's been on backorder ever since. It's supposed to be here soon though

Ya they all come stock with the flat, black air box. The tube is called a short ram intake. There is lots of places that make them and they should come with the cone type filter.

first off i want to say... WASH YOUR ENGINE BAY! lol the best way to get it really super clean when it is like that is to take it to an auto detailer and have them steam it. when they are done it looks brand spanking new! You can also use a hose and water. Cover up your air filter, alternator, power distribution box.. and theres probably something else i am forgetting (look up the procedure on the web) with plastic bags. Then spray it down using common sense to stay away from electrical stuff. Keep the bonnet open and let it sit in the sun to dry out. Use a whole bunch of rags to wipe up the other dirt and residue.

For the short ram air intake you should read Sid's thread on the matter.

I'm sure if you went to your local parts store you could find all that you need to make your own intake at a very inexpensive cost.

third you should paint the manifold cover because it's cool

i would do what was suggested above then, take it to a detailer and have it done. then just wipe it down everytime you wash your car, or every couple times. that is if you care what your engine bay looks like ;P

the above posted link is a good tutorial for how to make your own short ram intake.
