Exclamation IAT question

Question. What would happen if i didnt use my IAT? My iat is too far away to connect to the wires. And i have no way of getting to radio shack to get some more wire and solder. Would i be ok having it unplugged for just a short amount of time?

Probably you'll be OK. Other posters have found the IAT sensor just hanging loose after a service appt., had no CEL's, car ran fine, plugged it back in and all was well.

you will possibly run lean in cold weather and will run a little rich when it's really hot.

The hotter the air the IAT sees, the lesser the fuel is gonna be injected and the PCM's gonna pull back timing also!!

Ok i did tests with my scan tool!!!

59°f Intake air = 15° timing at 6000Rpm at full load!!
82°f Intake air (let the sensor in the engine bay!) = 12° at the same 6000Rpm... not to mention that the engine felt more lazy... all tests were done with 92 Octane Irving premium to eliminate possibilities of pinkage and the knock sensor going nutz!!

Marko!!
