Turbo size discussion

I'm strongly thinking of selling my project car and taking some of the money from it and going turbo on my FIT. I just don't drive it much. Being that the 1.5 is such a small engine, what would you guys recommend for a good balanced sized turbo? I'm looking for something that pulls all the way to redline, could go past 200 HP on race day, and still be easy to drive from stop light to stop light. I'm thinking a .42 .48 combo or even a 60-1 combo....Any input from the TR1 or HKS guys?

Sean.

ok i'm going to go out on a limb and say you don't know anything about turbo's. no pun intended

a .42/.48 t3 50trim is a 250hp capable turbo and a 60-1 is a 600hp capable turbo

here's a thread that we discussed this about earlier. https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...lculation.html

I know a lot about turbos, just not the small ones..I have a GSR swapped CRX with a t3/t4 kit I put together myself...I spent a lot of time thinking about what size I wanted for the GSR.. ended up going with a .57 trim (I forget the rest of the specs)...if/when i decide to take the boost/FIT plunge, I'll do exhaustive research again I suppose.

Anyways, after I posted the first thread I got to thinking about HT and found this SOHC thread.... might be worth some time: http://www.honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=1643764

Looks like i have 700+ pages to look at...Sean.

I'm using the T25 that came with the T1R kit, so that's all I can attest to, but it seems VERY well matched to the motor. The boost onset and responsiveness is that of a stock turbo car. Boost hits when you jab the gas, not a second after. You can hit boost from right off idle, and it holds all the way to redline.

That said, if you want something capable of breaking 200 whp on race day, I'd suggest a step up. Maybe a T3? I wouldn't go T3/T4 like some of the other Honda guys do (over at H-T.com), as we really don't have the aftermarket support they do for internals (all we get is pistons ATM, I believe), and the hybrids quite significantly outflow the standard T3s.

I was reading it .... If I remember correctly hks kit comes with internaled waste gate t25 with 0.42trim
where as t1r kit is t25 with 0.48 with external waste gate
Before I got the t1r kit I was gonna put stock rb26 t28 turbo on there and that would easily get u 200hp
but then again you only get pistons for aftermarket internals
so I wouldnt risk it unless u have plans for kswap and just wanna blow it up

Or if u have alot of money well 8k ish
just do k swap and call it a day! Reliable and over 200hp

the gt2554r from the rb26dett would be a great turbo. and the stock r34 units have a ceramic turbine which would help even more with spoolup but limits you on max boost pressure. I have a gt2560r from a s15 rb20det that i'd like to try if/when I ever boost. it maps out excellent on our cars(mathmatically at least)

What about a .48/.60 .... should spool up kinda fast and shouldn't peak till after redline...What RPM's are you T1R(.42/.48) guys seeing full boost? What about the HKS(.63/.??)guys?

T1R is .48 a/r
HKS is .63 a/r

T!R turbo spools a lot quicker

I haven't personally seen the t1r or hks turbo's but based off your numbers here you may be thinking t3? I've personally never seen a .48/.60 t25, nor have I seen a .42/.48 t25? can anyone show some pictures of there t1r or hks turbochargers so we can confirm some numbers? i'm quite interested myself.
