The Official Normally-Aspirated Thread....(techniques/parts/troubleshooting etc.)

I decided to create this thread because I didnt see one. I know it's almost like a joke to modify the fit and keep it normally-aspirated but I am a firm believer that a nicely tuned, though low horsepower, motor can still be fun to drive.

I want this thread to be a guide/faq for other members to see what kind of power the L15 can make and the parts/ other work it took to get there and discussions of techniques and methods that may not have been discussed before. Post up mods that you have and dyno sheets is highly appreciated. Keep one "mod-list" post per member though and just edit your post accordingly as your mods grow.

My list so far...

Fujita SRI
T1R Response Header
Gutted OEM cat with o2 fix
Modacar.com midpipe
Greddy Ti axleback

Other not necessarily "power" mods but still improves engine/driving performance...
Exedy Stage 1 clutch
T1R Voltage stabilizer

Future mods I'm thinking of....
Intake manifold plastic gasket
Ingalls torque dampener
?????

Dyno is coming SOOON, just too broke this month. I'm hoping to break the 100hp mark and anymore than that would be great.

dont player hate on the vtak lol

and btw the ingalls td is awesome.. i have one im running it on about 12mm 10 being the stiffest and its pretty good all the rubber spacers melted off though so it feels like stiff mounts u can feel the vibrations in the seats at idle.. makes me feel like my car is faster lol

For serial though, my main concern that I've been wondering about lately is..."what's next??"

Without going to routes like port/polishing and other internal machining procedures, I'm not sure what other things there is to do to squeeze more power out. And yes I know about the intake manifold, but let's just say I dont like to speak about that certain brand...

damn that sounds pretty harsh, did you notice a better response when hard-shifting?

haha im kinda in the same boat as well im holding off on any cosmetic mods for a while im thinking about building the motor like josh but with no boost.. i mean the fit is a fun car but theres times i NEED MOAAR POWERR and i've been keeping an eye out for used subies. also for some reason rays car feels faster then a fit should for some reason i think he gets less drag because he's lowered beneath sea level.. idk

yea def now that i adjusted it ..from factory u feel it but its not enough to be like OMG 160 bucks is awesome.. if my daughter wasnt in the car i'd adjust it to 10mm but even i like a semi smooth ride sometimes so im planning on keeping it that way.. the thing about the fit is that the stock mounts are crap from the start

Hahaha a stiff suspension will make it "feel" like that. That was the biggest thing that I felt when I switched to coilovers, especially when going from 1st to second. The car is just flatter and stays flat..if that makes any sense

Sugarphreak's N/A mod list!
(although it changes every couple of months )

Well Here is my latest pile of power mods;
*ducks as Sam throws things at him for running so much WR gear*

1. WR SRI Intake
2. WR Intake Manifold
3. Greddy E-Manage Ultimate
4. WR Race Header & O2 Fix
5. Unorthodox Racing Pulley Kit
6. T1R B-Pipe
7. T1R 50S Exhaust
8. Royal Purple Synthetic

(other related power making things)
9. Lightweight Rota 15" Circuit 10's
10. Innovate LM2 Tuning Kit

Also hoping to break the 100hp mark this time around I am starting to run pretty low on ideas to make more power as well. I will probably be looking at a larger (or bored out) throttle body soon.

What is the LM2 tuning kit? Be careful with the throttle body bore, I remembered Ray tried to bore his own and let's just say he had to buy a new one lol

Did you feel like the motor is running smoother with the Royal Purple? I'm gonna switch to Mobil 1 synthetic/ Oil filter on my next oil change. Also did you keep it at the oem weight?

I kept the OEM weight, I didn't really notice any difference between the regular & synthetic oils though. I guess really it is a longevity thing in the end.

I was researching throttle bodies from other cars quite a bit for a while, I might end up building some Frankenstein thing when I get board this summer.

LM2 Tuning kit is a portable wideband with all sorts of extra's like advanced data-logging for AFR/RPM's, OBD2 scanner & baller status carry case

I seee....

Have you checked out the Spoon throttle body? I'm not sure if it's compatible with the USDM model though but that'll be the only one I would consider putting...

The only thing to do after bolt-ons have all been tried is to crack the motor. I've thought about port/polish work on the head, port-matching on the intake/exhaust maybe Extrude Hone of the intake manifold. Trouble is without cams and a stand-alone ECU to tune it you aren't gonna get much except a confused ECU. Maybe if a bag of money falls off a truck... My mods are: A-Spec CAI, DC 4-2-1 header, Tanabe AB.

I looked at the Spoon one carefully, I think they are asking way too much for a throttle body. Lots of the other DBW ones I looked at have similar bolt patterns and even common control modules & plug. I might pick up a few from a junkyard this summer and pull off the Fit one just to compare them all and see if there is a way to make it work.

There was a thread dedicated to this, but it died out after a while. I think the S2000 & 09' Fit TB's might work if anybody can get their hands on one cheap.

EDIT: Found it: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...ttle-body.html

Some of the best mods that can be done with a noticeable difference are a LSD, CLutch and lightened flywheel. And to one up a lower final drive.

lightened flywheel

Where can you buy a lightened flywheel and does it help HP or just increase speed bc less rotational mass?
