K20a Fit

How many of you guys would be willing to do the swap if the mounts were available? Please PM me or email me if you are serious about doing this swap and I can provide you with more information about it. My email address is parker@hybrid-racing.com Thanks

I would love to do the swap but engine price is just way out of reach for me.

How different is a k20 civic eg from a fit with a k20? In fact, the civic is even lighter and yet it is extremely fast around the track. The imbalance in weight distribution can be fixed by tuning the suspension. Track spec civics do this a lot. And yes, the mounts would help fit owners like us a LOT. I sure hope they'll be available soon.

We have yet to run our EK on a circuit or auto cross but we ran 12.8 @ 106 at the drag strip on slicks and our fits are only 200-400lbs heavier depending on what model you have. Our EG hatch ran 13.2 @107 on street tires. The fit can be and autox monster, you will just need to work a little harder on tuning your suspension. Check out our vid at http://www.hybrid-racing.com/gallery.html Click on the vids at the bottom.

mugen did their k20 swap and they claim it will stay as a prototype only since it's not very drivable

the car it's just too front heavy at that point to be any fun

a b16 or ITR swap i would be insterested in

Why do a B swap when the K is about the same weight as it. The K is only 20-50lbs heavier than the B and so much more torquey. More torque = more fun!

I'd be more interested in the R series outta of a new civic EX. those might be a little easier on the pocketbook and to fit in the engine bay.

But the front-heavy comment was obviously in reference to the stock L15, a very small and light engine. The B16 or B18 engine would be front heavy too.

Also, another post mentioned that the K is about 20-50lbs heavier... and that may be for the whole swap, I'm not sure. But when the K-series first came out I recall reading that the K engine is actually lighter than the B-series. I've been trying to find out on the internet but I haven't found anything yet, except someone's post that the shipping weight of a K is 15lbs lighter than a B18C5 (not that that's proof). Just throwing it out there.

Okay, I found it. As noted on Honda's website, the K20 Type R engine is ~22lbs lighter than the B18 Type R engine.

personally i like going in zig zags, either on the freeway or in the mountains. so if i really had to do a swap, i would feel strongly about a fully built single cam v'.
