Transmission swap question

I just outfitted my A/T Fit with a turbo kit. The A/T absolutely cannot handle even the slightest increase in power and is very hard to tune, due to the constant torque converter adjustments.

I really want to swap my A/T out for a 5-speed and change the clutch. You guys know exactly what I'll need for the procedure? I can get a used tranny for ~700$, but I dont know what else I'll need. any suggestions would help!

So far....
stock: 81 hp - 78 ft-lb
after dyno (tranny slipping): 114 hp - 114 ft-lb@3.5psi

I think manual will yield allot more power....PLEASE HELP!!!

That's all??
I'm glad I posted this when I did...Honda told me I needed a new ECU for the M/T and all the accessories plus the tranny. Is the slave cylinder sold apart from the M/T, or is it the master cylinder?

You'll need all that and listed about PLUS the M/T ECU..... if you search somewhere in my "F.S. L15 motor" thread I remember someone posting a response that they had one for sale. check it out.

quick question.. i know people on here running 6+ psi with a t1r turbo kit, that claims to make 135 whp with an AT at 4.5 psi..

how come your tranny is slipping?

ive heard of people having problems with the cvt all the time.. but no one has had any problems so far (at least to my knowledge) with the U.S. AT. (sport paddle shift)

I think it might be my driveshaft...
I hear and feel a "cruching" noise when power is applied liberally in all gears, especially when I turn Left! I noticed the A/T is still right on all the gears and smooth when shifting...any suggestions as to what it might be

Shit!

Which one....left, right, I know there are a few on the A/T
Should I just go for the Left assembly since the sound and feeling is originating from that side of the car?

when you say drive shaft are you referring to axles?

If so, I'd say do both. Pull them form a junk yard though. Dealership is $700+ for each side.

I got mine (M/T) for $150 each

I don't know the answer but one thought did cross my mind. Would it be cheaper to take the turbo off, sell the car (or trade) and get a Fit with manual?

junkyards dont have it in the bay area, no aftermarket parts for my ge, so only choice is hook up from a dealer. As for me, it was on my right passenger side.

As far as all the auto to manual swaps i have done, you need:

Transmission
Shift Linkage
Shift Cables
Shifter Box
Transmission side engine mount
Axles
Manual ECU
clutch
flywheel
manual brake pedal assembly
clutch pedal assembly (usually need to make a custom bracket in cowl)
clutch master cylinder (need to make a template and be perfect for firewall drilling)
clutch slave cylinder
clutch hydraulic lines

Don't forget the small things that always hang you up, like pedal assembly pins and retainers, and shift linkage washers and pins for the trans and the shifter box, retainer clips for the linkage on the shifter box, etc. The parts do not come with these things when ordering from honda.

And you need to figure out how to start the car without the automatic. Usually this involves wiring to make the bcm think the car is always in park, as well as find out a way to bypass security with the new ECU. Maybe honda can program your current set of keys in the new ECU?

Just some food for thought, it is a time and part intensive swap. We usually charge about 10 hours for the most common auto to manual swaps, and parts can become pricey.

no thats not all, PM me ur email address i'll send u a complete Excel file with part number and prices on ALL the parts u need for AT/MT swap.
if i remember correctly..it was about $4000usd to do the swap without labour and Stealer ship pricing.

no one has problems with CVT here in USA because USDM FIT don't have CVT technology

and T1R "Claim" u can make 135whp....n CLAIM is the key word, for all we know they only showd a dyno graph...during the test, they could be using NOS but we dunno.....but ALL i know is that my t1r turbo kit didn't make 135whp on the dyno
