Longshot: R18 ECU + Hondata Flashpro?

So I'm tooling around today, reading about the FlashPro setup available on R18 Civic's . . . and I see R18 ecu's on eBay for under $100. Hmmm.

nope lol but you could get a K20a2 ecu and Kpro that and run it as a piggyback. You would need to talk to hondata about the wiring.

If it works, this would be the same principle . . . and half the price. And who knows, maybe the R18 is more closely related than the K20 ECU, so it could control the stock electronics and not need to be piggybacked.

Of course, the better solution would be for Hondata to just release the FlashPro for the Fit. From my amateur point of view, it seems like they've already done all the homework needed . . . the hardware is the same, the software has already been developed, and they're already reflashing Fit ECU's for Kraftwerks.

I actually remember watching that video when it first popped up. Too bad nothing has changed in the 14 months since.

bump this up.

rather than doing all that rewiring, i know the the fit ECU wire diagram, pin location, and harness plugs are all the same as the 06+ s2000.

maybe swap in a s2000 ecu adn use the flashpro designed for that?

Holy crap, really?

Off the top of my head, VTEC implementation is significantly different. Although that may not be an issue from the ECU's point of view since it's activated the same way. For a GD, at least . . . GE's have cam timing to handle as well.

i got a reply from hondata yesterday...
in theory this will work
a 100% new tuen can be created and sensors that the s2000 has that teh fit doesnt, can be disabled with flashpro
the ecu plugs are the same, however there are a few pins that are not.
i was recommended to:
1. get s2k and fit ecu pinout
2. get boomslang jumper harness and do the repinning on that. $130
3. used 06+ap2 ecu ~$200
4. have ecu immobilizer canged to match my car
5. borrow a friends flashpro and try to start the car

hondata does not support tryign this and cannot garauntee it will work. they were also not sure if the gauges will work since the s2k is digital.

This is good news. I'm thinking I might look into this.

Although, I'd look at the R18 ecu, rather than the s2k ecu, because the r18 has iVTEC unlike the s2k. The r18 is more similar to the fit than the f22, and it's still being developed.

Think they are speaking of the GD's ECU and S2000 sharing the same ECU plugs. The GE8 is a whole other ball game and is more like the FD2 or whatever the chassis code in North America is for the Civic Si and EX with the ECU residing inside the engine bay versus inside the vehicle. I still have my KPro and harness from my AP2 Snisen and I know for sure the plugs do not mate up to the GE8 ECU plugs. I didn't even need to try, just looking at the plugs and verified when I also ran a wire from the harness to power a LED for when VTEC is activated.

Any of these ECUs are plug-compatable with the GE8:
2007 to 2010 Acura MDX
2007 to 2010 Acura RDX
2006 to 2010 Honda Civic Si
2006 to 2010 Honda Civic DX, EX, GX, LX
2006 to 2010 Honda Civic Hybrid

I have yet to verify the proper sensors on each model. Once I drive back to MD, (I'm in CA right now, I should be home Sunday night) I'll look it all up. Hopefully I'll be able to find some part numbers too.

Also, I'm having issues getting to Hondata's website, so it'll have to wait until I can get to it. :/
