Beginner/Newbie in need of Advice.

Hi all,

So I'm a undergrad student and my parents gave me a 2008 1st Gen Honda Fit. I've had it for 3 years now, runs fantastic and enjoy it a lot.

I want to modify the car so that if I want to race it in the future I can, but also I do a lot of traveling and need extra power and stability. I was hoping to learn a little from this forum.

Apart from that, my commute from home to school every other weekend kills me! Living in California (Bay area), the average speed of traffic is 75-80 mph and if I keep up I sometimes waste more gas than I want to because I'm cruising at 4000 rpm. I was thinking of doing a few things like: upgrade suspension, d1 controller, turbo/supercharger (not sure which one will do me better), upgrade the basics, change out the wheels, pretty much the whole 9-yards.

I was thinking about changing the transmission. I probably feel like a total clueless kid right now when I ask this but is it possible to get a 6-speed MT into the Fit? It's probably impossible to do and probably breaking the laws the auto-mechanics somewhere but seems like a feasible idea on the surface.

Any advice, tips or parts for suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
