1.2 Vs 1.4 and DSi Vs Vtec

Hi guys, I didn't know which section to put this in as it is about 2 Generations but I hope you can answer it here. I am looking at getting a nice little car just to run around in whilst I change jobs. I don't really have time to test drive them all so I hope you all can help.

My first question is since it is only a small engine either way is a 1.4 that much better than a 1.2? It's only .2 after all right?

Also is the DSi still ok or is the Vtec a lot better? I know the newer one is usually always better...but...if a 1.4 DSi is around £3,500 to £5000 and a Vtec one is £6,000-£10,000 that is a bit of a jump!

I usually buy on condition and spec and if it has been looked after well. I don't really want to spent £10,000 on a Jazz either.

Hear from you soon!

1.2 is clearly inferior to the 1.3 just because it has lower displacement and in almost every way is a lesser motor than the 1.3. Except maybe fuel economy. That's just plain and simple. This is only the case for the Jazz/Fit, do NOT apply this theory to every other car lol.

The DSi motors are designed for low end torque and fuel economy. Not a performance oriented motor in any way. It's a city oriented motor.

The L-series VTEC motors are a bit more balanced and dare I say a bit more performance oriented near the top end. The VTEC motors is what Honda is known for, and really, I wouldn't want anything less.

But I would not spend $16k on a 1st gen Fit. It's a different story in England and Europe, where even 110 hp is amazing for some people.
