PWD JDM Rear Tow Hook

I recently received a password jdm rear tow hook as a gift, but no matter how hard I try it won't install straight. It always leans towards the left or right, but never straight down the middle. Has anyone else experienced this? Or know how to fix it?

I'm probably doing something wrong

Is the factory towhook insufficient when towing?

no it's fine...the pwd jdm one is just for looks. i'd honestly rather not have it on, but since i got it as a gift i feel obligated to have it on for at least a few months :/

so does that mean the pwd jdm won't hook straight bc the factory hook isn't jdm?

i've seen a bunch of people on our forums with the pwd jdm rear tow hook hooked onto their factory hook, but the pictures are always at an angle so i can't tell if it's on straight.

^ my comment was to why the factory one is not sufficient. Because its not jdm fresh. My advice is sell it. Gift or not, but only because I hate them. Car is much cleaner without the hook sticking out the back.

If you must try washers to space one side or the other to level it?

i totally agree with you - I want to sell it, but unfortunately it was gifted to me by my roommate so she would definitely notice and feelings would be hurt

i tried washers to make it even but then it wouldn't tighten correctly and ended up falling limp. it's really annoying...

Eh, just tell her that you installed it, take a pic, show it to her, then tell her that low and behold someone stole it off your car last night.

I've had this issue with my Benen rear tow hook before, but it was due to the bolts provided were crappy and just kept on threading.
Assuming that you have the same problem, I'd advice that you buy some better bolts from your local hardware shop and give it a try.

yeah...unfortunately i still have this thing. i think they're sitting in my closet somewhere.

the bolts tighten just fine...it just tightens to the point where the hook doesn't sit straight. if i loosen it to the point where it does look straight, then it falls limp.

it could be the bolts. maybe i'll find some better ones and see if that works.
