Does Mod+Street Park=Theft? (plus godzilla and twill wrap)

I am a simple girl with a 2 week old white honda fit base. I was looking for some items to help protect the car and found so much fun stuff that I am in the mood to play with a bit of 'spiffiness'.

Have you found that mods and street parking = theft? I would seriously doubt the cosmetic mods I would do (no expensive wheels they could resell) wound prompt anyone to steel it but thought I would check. I am guessing it really depends on where you live.

Planned mods so far: (showing just for fun)

1. White Godzilla window decal- because I really love Godzilla and I wanted something to quickly tell my car apart from all the other white cars in the parking lot.

2. I really, really, like the idea of a silver twill wrap on the roof. (maybe hood too but I'm not sure yet) I looked at some of the stark colors but I like the idea of a bit of silver texture as accent. May also use it on some details. (some places in the interior and behind the H in the emblems, etc. )

3. I also like the simple rear spoilers but still can't figure out if they actually help with wind resistance or if they are truly just decorative. I won't be lowering the car or anything in that category so not sure if it would be completely silly looking.... but I do like it in general.

4. Light tinting on windows.

1- No
2- Seriously doubt it
3- Probably not, and 95% of spoilers are decorative, unless on some cars, Bugatti Veyron/ Race car/ Pagani
4- No

All this depends on the area you live in, and things like that.

You could go to your police dept website and look at the stats for car break ins and such to confirm your area.

The main thing is, if the thief sees your car has something in it he wants or a crime of opportunity.
Easiest thing to do, is an alarm and then mods, so your car can alert you to a possible situation.

I live in a decent area in my town and stuff still happens, my girlfriends car got broken into and there was nothing to steal.

Just be cautious and don't leave stuff in your car that would make someone want to smash and grab.

Have fun

Thanks for the input.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the twill roof/maybe hood? I haven't seen many photos online of what is in my head. Not sure if that's because in reality it looks crappy. =)

edit- aha! this listing is close to what I am thinking (but in silver, not black, and no bumper cover)

It's carbon fiber.

Index of Wraps\2010-03-25 Fit Roof\ - ASP ListPics

Unsure if you have an 07/08 or 09+ but thats a GD3 or 07/08. GE8 is the 09+.

I think thats what you are going for, silver carbon fiber not the normal black carbon fiber.

EDIT: or this

Yes, carbon fiber... But the lighter silver. I like the idea of the white car with light silver texture looking bits... Just not sure what bits.

I have a 2013.

Maybe roof and rear spoiler so the silver flows off the car in the back. I'm not sure, yet I I would include the hood.

I may have to get a large roll and mock it up and see how I like it.

:-) but my vision means I would have to get a rear spoiler.

The spoiler does involve cutting since we both have base models and the sport with the spoiler has it attached with bolts.

I'm liking the first pic I posted for my silver 08. Since the 2nd wouldn't show up too well on a silver car.

Bolting- right, ill have to think about that. As long as it doesn't affect my warranty then I think I'm ok with that.

Yes, the dark silver would look nice on a silver car.

I like the idea of the light silver on a white car- it should give it a real subtle two toned effect.

Hey now! I found some photos of the white/light silver carbon fiber look. I love the subtle two-tone.

Now I am thinking roof and hood together.

Nah, don't think anyone's going to steal your car. It's not really a get in and go type deal with the immobilizer and all, and you'd have to have some serious mods for someone to go through the trouble of taking it on a flatbed.

I'm never worried about my car getting stolen, I just worry about smash and grabs, or just smash with street parking. Don't leave your purse, backpack or anything anyone would want laying in the car. Modded cars do invite dickhead door dings and keys though just because they know you like your car and assholes are assholes.

Things not to park next to if you can avoid it:
1) Beaters
2) Coupes with long doors, especially old American box coupes
3) Minivans
4) Modified domestics
5) Modified Hondas

In that order.

More "look at me" or more "check me out" inside the car = "Hmmmm I see you" = roll the dice...

Never thought about that color combo on white, it actually looks pretty nice. Tempting.

Plastic primer, two oats color, two coats gloss.

I am going to let it cure for a few days before I put them on.

I'm not sure if I want to put anything in the center. Ill have to look around.
