Hello Fit Freaks
I've had Honda Civics, 2 door hatch, and 4 door sedans in the past but this is my first Fit and I love it. I got it 3 months ago and I have put 16,000 miles on it already. It is fun to drive and gets great gas mileage. I have been reading about and fixing stuff from info that I got off this forum so I decided to join. This is a great resource for the information I need to keep my 09 Fit running great. It only has 213,000 miles on it now so I know I can get another 200,000 out of it. I plan on a nice stereo system, fatter wheels and tires with sway bar and strut upgrades, and maybe a cool roof rack. Be seeing ya.

With how much you drive, a roof rack seems a terrible idea. Ditto big wheels and tires. Just ways to exclusively make the car look worse and get terrible fuel economy.
especially since it seems you just want one to be ‘cool’ because we’re all still 19 year old vw stance kids in 2009

The tires and wheels I am looking at are exactly the same as the factory but 1" wider so I may lose an mpg or 2 but that's OK.
The roof rack may be noisy but it is removable, so if I don't like it, I can just remove it so no big deal there. I could just use it when I need it.
I was 40 in 2009 and I have never owned a vw so I'm not sure what you mean there.
I guess Fit Freak for you means keeping it Freaky Factory. That's good for you but let the rest of us live a little.
OK mike410b, you have a great day.
There's a few like that on every forum, and a bunch of others that like to mod, including me. Unfortunately you're arriving at a time when the forum traffic is very low, and with the Fit being discontinued in the US, it's not likely to get much busier in future. Most of the guys who are currently or recently working on project cars here will be GK guys, but there's probably a decent amount of stuff from older cars to search through.
He's not wrong about a roof rack hurting mileage, but if the utility of a rack is more important than the economy loss, then it's not a bad thing. Are you looking for wheels/tires for more grip, style, or both? Any particular one you have in mind?
Edit- despite seeming kind of grumpy, he also knows pretty well what he's talking about. Wasserball is the same way, up to you how much you want to interact. I don't have a personal problem with either of them, but sometimes I just don't have the energy to stay in a discussion.

Thanks hasdrubal
I just sold a 06 Mustang GT that was heavily modded and the S197 Forum was the same. Some guys with a wealth of knowledge could be real a-holes but if you need help or information, they were the go-to guys. I don't mind the comments but I have to respond accordingly. I added some pics of my car yesterday. I had a blowout one night at about 11 pm luckily only 30 miles from my work rental so the "donut" spare worked just fine. I usually drive about 1400 miles round trip each weekend and realized that I needed a good spare. I bought one that I liked and will eventually buy 3 more and change the set. I wanted to see if the tire/wheel I wanted would work so I only bought the one first.

My Fit is modified. So was my previous Fit. My S2000 is moderately heavily modified.
90% of the time when someone joins this site and posts about fatter wheels they want 8 or 9” wide wheels that stick out two inches past the wheel well, my b on the assumption. 16x7 with anything from 185/55/16, 195/50/16, or 205/50/16 work well. (15 and 17” alternatives also fun)
That said, Roof racks will reduce your highway mpg by a significant amount. Buying a fuel efficient car and making it much less efficient just seems goofy to me.

Well, like I mentioned before, you know what you're talking about. The only disconnect is you might or might not know what OP was talking about. I'm no more fond of stance guys than you are, by the way.
There is one thing, though- if you needed a roof rack, and you could only have one car, would you rather take a Fit and go from 40mpg to 30, or something like a 4Runner and go from 15 to 9?

Thanks for the input guys.
I get the roof rack issues. I think they look cool and add a nice place to haul my kayak when around my hometown. I would not want to keep it installed while I am on the long drives I do from Wisconsin to Tennessee for work every weekend (round trip). If I want to burn up some gas I could just take my jacked-up Yukon XL that gets 12 mpg. That gets expensive quick.
The wheels I will eventually put on it are these. I just want my tire somewhat even with the fender. I've bought one that I am using for a spare now.
