Help me feel better about my purchase of a fit!
Help me feel better about my purchase of a fit!
Hi all,
I just purchased a used 2nd generation 2011 Honda Fit for 7k.
the car has 193,000 miles but has been kept in amazing condition. It looks new on the inside. The car had only 1 owner and had an extensive history of regular maintenance.
I had a car buyer help me find it (who was an awesome trustworthy guy.) he told me this was a great deal, and that he didn’t feel comfortable suggesting any of the other options on the market near my price point of 7k.
since bringing it home I’m feeling regretful, that maybe I made the wrong choice buying a car with so many miles on it…
is there anything you can say to help me feel confident with my decision?

Congratulations on your new Honda! Fits are very reliable cars, and therefore I wouldn't regret the purchase at all even it has seen lots of roads. It's rust and mishandling, which kills it, not the miles. And if your Fit is well kept and maintained, you can easily put another 200 k more miles on it.
There is a thread on this forum about 2009 Fit which started at 389 k miles and got up to 516 k miles on the first engine, and continuing with replacement engine after that. I think the last number was 590 k last spring. https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...ld-thread.html

The car market in general is extremely overpriced right now. If the car seems well taken care of, it should do well for a long time so long as you also take care of it well.
It is a lot of money, but they are good cars.

When the Spartans rode into battle, the Honda Fit was their choice of transportation, so worry not. Jokes aside, I wouldn't let the mileage alone scare you. There are numerous, documented examples of Honda Fits running well past 300,000-400,000 miles.
Well put. If you plan on keeping the car for a while, I'd say you found a good one. Welcome to the club.
Price on used Fit models from Carvana is close to the original sticker price. I've even seen some priced higher.

Im new on the forum, but original owner of my 2012. Ive had only one gripe which was a weird spark plug issue that caused me to swap out the engine. But for the most part its a fun car. Ive helped friends move furniture in this car, took it to the mountains to snowboard, and took both my babies home from the hospital in this car. Its definitely been fun owning one, and hopefully itll be around when my son starts learning how to drive.
I bought my 2010 Sport new in 2010 and she (Fiona) has turned 13 this year! I also moved from about 5 or 6 dwellings, taking my twins home and late night drives so they fall asleep hah, just changed the alternator and shes still running like a champ. I change my own oil and do what maintenance I can and its very easy once you have the proper tools. My kids love Fiona and she is like a family member. Even if I get a new vehicle, she will always be my daily driver. I have the Navi radio with 5 speed and love to drive it, very feature filled and plan on installing a HON-BT adapter soon so I feel like I'll have a new car with BT support haha.
Hope you have a similar experience!

dude.. i just bought a fit with 137k miles, these cars if taken care of will last 250k plus. worst case scenario you have to replace the motor.. the L series motor is not expensive 1k maybe 2k if you do tranny too it will be used of course but probbaly under 100k miles i always buy my motors from hmotorsonline so in 3 years if u replace the motor you basically have a new car again and the right tuner shop should install a motor for 1k thats what i always paid in san diego when i went to car tune or pann auto
I bought my 2012 fit in 2011 and still driving it with 90k miles, still happy with my purchase, too bad its a auto trans but was thinking about doing a swap to manual. Found a wreak manual fit around 130k miles. about $180ish for the tranny(include flywheel, clutch dis, pressure plate, fork), clutch master cylinder $25, pedal assembly $34, not sure do I need the ECU? roughly 240ish without tax.
