Talking Newbie Fit Fan From Chicagoland!

Greetings everyone! Newbie here; pleased to make your acquaintance.

I've been bitten--hard!--by the Fit bug, and the timing couldn't be better. I've wanted a Honda forever it seems, yet always ended up buying something else for one reason or another. My current car is a '05 Toyota Corolla. Why I purchased it over the 2005 Civic that I really wanted at the time remains a mystery. I now have the opportunity to redeem myself for past failings, and I'm ready to purchase a 2009 Fit.

Wanting to sample everything of interest car-wise to be certain my object of desire was real, I looked at the '08 Ford Focus coupe & sedan, the Toyota Yaris and the Nissan Versa. The Focus is a nice car, but I deleted it quickly from my list of candidates largely because it lacked the versatility I craved (I really wanted a hatchback). I had only a mild interest in the Versa; quick scratch off for that, too. I really liked the looks of the Yaris and test drove one...but was disappointed by the handling and acceleration. Why go from one lackluster car to another? Later, Yaris! It could have been sweet!

Despite the sampling, my head and heart ALWAYS brought me back to Honda's Fit, beginning with the first generation model. When I learned that a new model was forthcoming--and after seeing it at the New York Auto Show--I was 100% hooked. The only thing I haven't done is test drive one yet, as many dealers in my area have already sold the few they've received.

Not sure what color I want, but I do want the Sport w/Navi. Actually, I could do without the navigation system, but it's the only way to get VSC.

I just registered with this forum moments ago and it appears to be an enthusiastic one. I'm eager to hunker down and really get into the various threads and posts here. I'm glad you guys (and gals) exist; your excitement over the Fit is contagious. Hope to talk with y'all soon!

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey folks! Thanks for the welcome! Very cool.

ds62987: I share your view about Taffeta White. Saw the first '09 right here on the forums; sweeeeeeeeeeeeet! Saw two this past Sunday on the dealership lot in black; very nice if you don't mind constant cleaning. Something about Milano Red gets my juices stirred too! Honestly, I don't think there's one bad color for the Fit. Small wonder I'm hooked!

Silly Monkey: Your words are right on the money. The fact that I actually considered those other cars...well, see what happens when you don't take your meds on a daily basis?

As a young boy my grandfather always told me that the important thing in life is to learn from your mistakes. Believe me, I've made more than a few along the way. I've also learned that skipping your meds every other day can be a lot of fun

I'm surprised I've not seen at least one Fit in Milano Red yet, but it's still early. I did see TWO in Orange Revolution at the dealership this weekend; much nicer in person that I expected. But that red....

Absolutely, they look incredible in red. This was my first color choice. Just surprised I've not seen any on the road yet.

It's entirely possible, though I've a keen eye. I never seem to miss people driving the first generation model; I dunno, the car just stands out. It's likely this is due to my fascination with the little bugger...it's such a winner in every respect. I got thisclose to buying one in Taffeta White from a dealer in Bourbonnais, Illinois that had Navi, but he'd just sold it when I called to inquire (sigh). I'll take it as a cue to hold out for red! Wish me luck.

Too funny! I think your wife would appreciate your trading in the wagon though. His and her Fit's in the drive; peace at home; a win-win for all involved! Just draw the line at picking up the tab for gas; she's gotta do that herself.

hahahaha, actually my FitS is a MT and wife can't drive MT. lol

there were discussions of getting her a Odyesse though... that is
currently the direction we're heading if my legacywgn dies. but i think
i can get her to agree paying $18k (or watever) for the red 09 Fit
vs a whoppin' $35K for the touring!
