Did I get the first one in the States?
Walked into my Honda dealer at 11:20 AM 20-April-2006 and drove it away at 12:35 PM. Vivid Blue Sport model for $120 over MSRP. So far several looks and smiles from passerbys. I'll be checking the forums for personalization ideas, etc. In the meantime I am off to get aquainted. Looking forward to this.
I got my blue Sport auto. on the 19th, Wed., in New Jersey. Got 200 miles on it now(Fri.). Does that make me the first? The rear windows(back seat, and back from there) have been 'shaded' with a professional film job. I added a chrome tip to the tailpipe. As the car was pre-ordered, I had them install a chrome grill. It now has rubber Honda floor matts, and a blue shift lever. I am waiting for a cargo cover. Ordered parts from a Honda dealer via internet as the selling dealer wanted to mark-up parts. Car drives great. I also took off 5 advert's for the selling dealer (1- license frame, 2- card in rear license frame, 3- card on nose license holder, 4- transfer letters on tailgate, and 5- decal on rear hatch glass.) I have two other cars with manual transmissions, but I love the way the Fit shifts. I just use D and S (and N at stop lights.)

According to the dealer, they were not allowed to release my Fit to me until April 20, per Honda corporate. I gather some of our FitFreaks found dealers who broke the rule(?). Mine came in on the 18th and they took me out to the garage where they were checking it out, brought it down off the lift and let me sit in it. I had an appointment with the salesman for the final paperwork at 9 AM on the 20th, and headed for work about 10:20 AM. I took the dealer's ad plate off the front, but they really torqued the bolts on the plate frame and I couldn't get it off. (We don't have front license plates in FL.) It really spoils the appearance of the grille. I'm heading back to the dealership tomorrow -- salesman says someone will have to crawl underneath the car to unbolt the plate frame, so they'll just put it on a lift. I told him no offense, but I don't like having billboard on my car! The frame on the back of the car has the dealer's name in big letters, so that's got to go, too! At least he didn't tack on one of those little plaques on the body like the dealer did to my Accord wagon -- I would have had a "fit" about that! I was tempted to offer to carry their ads around for 6 months if they dropped the price!
I like the look of the carpet mats, but wonder if the all-weather version would be the better choice. Anyone seen the cargo cover? The mat over the cargo area is really flimsy. A nice one came with my Accord wagon and I didn't pay extra for it.
