Just another intro
Just another intro
Hey. Hi. Hello. Blahness. Aloha (if you will since I'm from Hawaii but really never say that, ever, unless I'm watching Lilo & Stitch and repeating lines...).
Just thought I'd give my introduction and my reason for being here.
My name is Megan but you can call me by sily or whatever. (Yes, go ahead and make your jokes now - "OMG, you're so silly sily." Blah.)
Anyway, I am a 2010 White FS owner. Love it! Sad times though, got some screw marks on my back bumper from a hit-and-run SOB! I seem to end up on the site a lot to find answers to some of my questions or just curious to see what others have been doing with their Fits (I recently gave up doing LEDs in the exterior door handles cause it seemed a bit much.).
The main reason why I registered though, is because I actually just recently came back from Okinawa and I noticed that the Fits there have this sort of antenna looking thing on their front bumper. I know that it's not an antenna cause they still have the back radio antenna but I think it's just a little plastic vertical rod that helps the driver see the opposite front bumper so that you don't scrape your bumper along another car or wall or what have you. I do have to admit that that is one of the short comings of the Fit, the fact that you can't see your front bumper.
Anywho, if anyone knows what I'm talking about (unfortunately I don't have a picture of this) and knows where I can get it, please let me know. I mean, I am a good driver but I just kind of wanted one. It's kind of cool if you've ever seen it. And I'm sure it will come in handy, I know it does in Japan.
*Will try to get a picture up.
Thanks.
Also, if I need to re-post this in another thread, please direct me and I will gladly do so. THANKS!

Guide antenna
Hello Sily52! Welcome aboard. Yes, you might want to post a thread under "Other Car Related Discussions" or "General Fit Talk" to get more responses.
And yes I think I know what you're talking about. They're basically guide posts, kinda like the old curb guides (maybe you're too young) that cars used to have - attached to the wheel well, pointed towards the curb and makes a scraping sound once it makes contact meaning you're close enough to the curb... Yes, very common in Asia - Japan, Philippines, Hong Kong and usually put on cabs, jeepneys, etc. It helps drivers in tight spots. Don't know where you could pick them up stateside but I'm sure you could rig one together... but really on a Fit?
Unless it's just for bling effect, roads stateside are wide enough comparably speaking.

Thanks for the reply!
Actually, the ones that i saw on the Fits in Japan are really cool-looking. They are transparent and in the night they glow blue. It doesn't scrape the curbs because you can see them sticking up vertically from the bumper but i think they would be helpful. Where i currently work, we have small stalls and it's ridiculous. Downtown in Hawaii is like that. So yeah, but i think i would still want one anyway, even if i change jobs.
Thanks. I will post somewhere else.

"...kinda like the old curb guides" was just a reference.
Totally different purpose. Curb guides point towards the curb. Guide antennas point up to serve as nose/fender guides for the driver. The clear ones are probably plexiglass with lights at the base. Now you know what to add to your "Japan shopping list." Good luck!
Oh on 2nd thought, truck shops might carry them. Sometimes truckers have them on their bumpers.
