Vertical rod on front bumper - Wall scrape/curbside help

Hi.
Me, new member.

I just recently came back from Okinawa and I noticed that the Fits there have this sort of antenna looking thing on their front bumper. I know that it's not an antenna cause they still have the back radio antenna but I think it's just a little plastic vertical rod that helps the driver see the opposite front bumper so that you don't scrape your bumper along another car or wall or what have you. I do have to admit that that is one of the short comings of the Fit, the fact that you can't see your front bumper.

Anywho, if anyone knows what I'm talking about (unfortunately I don't have a picture of this) and knows where I can get it, please let me know. I mean, I am a good driver but I just kind of wanted one. The ones in Japan are kind of cool. They are clear but at night they glow blue. It's kind of cool if you've ever seen it. And I'm sure it will come in handy, I know it does in Japan.

* I will try to get a picture.

**Thanks to Subie for the note to move my post.

Did they look like this?

If so, they're called "curb feelers"

no, no. seated in the driver's seat of the car, you can see them sticking up vertically from your opposite bumper that way you can tell the distance when you're driving how far away/close you are from the wall or other car.

Try www.jcwhitney.com. That catalog won't show the "corner locating rods" specifically for a Fit, but would show them in the "universal fit" category. I can see where these might be common in an old, crowded Asian or European coountry with tiny streets, but you probably won't see any of these rods on a Fit anywhere but, maybe, Salem, MA.

(Tip: if you actually install those things on your Fit, NEVER post a photo of your car on the forums, unless you just like being laughed at- no offense intended).

The "no offense" comment was sincere- I know what most of the members here would do to a photo post with those rods mounted on a Fit. But, if friendly advice scares you away, you have some big shocks coming on car forums. For more sources, those rods are also used on the corners of trailers to help car drivers locate the trailer boundaries in their rear view mirror. Look also on www.etrailer.com.

Not sure what the install is like though, as these are meant to be used with the JDM GE8's. But then again it might be as simple as drilling in to your bumper. Let us know if you get them and install them.

JDM Parking Pole. I believe that there is one available for the GD. Try japanparts.com
